  1. Just an update on the "Y" pipe mod. took it out for some flying runs yesterday, both in auto and "S" mode and there is a noticable difference in performance and the note is great. its not overly loud but comforable sweet burble, its at its loudest cruising 60 to 80 km/h in top, very low rumble not a drone like before. now someone says extractors, wish I hadn't seen that. still cant wait to add K&N SRI still waiting for some other quotes.
  2. welcome. extractors for the aurion, now im interested in those. they would have to be custom made, unless there is a manufactuer out there somewhere. that would compliment my "Y" pipe mod. more info please.
  3. [attachmen t=11934:sx6_mods_028.jpg]to answer cranky and chicken, yes I have the original cat still on the front bank and the main cat in line. and yes the 02 sensor is just after the first one, same as mckay's, fortunately no errors showed up. so far I can do pics off phone but haven't worked out video. can play with cars but not computers. lol just to let you all know this mod cost $270 inc g.s.t.
  4. if you look at mckay's pics at the start, its the same setup, the only thing I was not sure about was removing the rear manifold cat, but we did anyway. the front manifold still has the cat in place.
  5. to get to that bracket my mechs only removed the vvti oil pipe, moved to one side and accesed it from there, wasn't easy but like I said earlier it will be easier next time.
  6. got the mod done today OMG what a difference in sound, it now has the deep earthy rumble I was after, not the hum it had. haven't had much of a chance for some spirited runs yet, but it has more "bottom end" around town. got the mech to cut cross section of the crush just to show how much restriction there is as stock.
  7. its in 's' so probably. LOL. Hmmmm Well, at the time the error came up, I was driving casually. 5 minutes before that was a different story. Just the usual traffic weaving and roundabout speeding. I have not had the problem since matching up the tyres, when I thought it was a fuel issue.
  8. booked in friday for crush pipe mod. after some discusion with mech I am going with the same method as "mckay" will post results saturday (got to work friday night ):
  9. thanks adam. saw repco in hobart, they had it on file but no price. and K&N were not going to be back till 11th jan so I will get back to them then.
  10. Depending on your personality, I'm sure this opinion will change easily once you hear how sweet it sounds. I reckon as long as you keep your stock intake bits, you could remove the SRI and fit the stock intake in under 10 minutes. I'm not 100% on the SRI/CAI subject, but I think I've hear things like an SRI can give you top end gains, but you can lose low end torque. Like I said, things like this are based on my shoddy memory so someone with more information on the subject should comment here. I have been experimenting with my own sri, and using different length of pipe, different pod filters. and I have found problems with torque ( no bottom end torque if too long) and no take off and top end if too short.even had probs with the trans, sloppy gear changes, holding in 3rd up hill.as of tonight ( yes been fiddleling again ) I put the first stock resonator back on and a short pipe ( with the maf ) and the pod. not as noisy but evens out the torque range and the trans went back to a normal mode. I have had the ecu update. even though this is good I think the K&N would be better because it was designed for the aurion. hope this helps.
  11. sorry. you are right, forgot they come in two sizes.
  12. Nah, I certainly wasn't an A grade student. I'm just good with something if I can get my hands around it. Since I've pretty much taken my Aurion apart, I've got a decent idea of how everything ties together. I was the type of kid that would take a screwdriver to toys and take them apart to see what makes them tick. I'm just a hands on learner. Im like that too, only I can never put things back together again.
  13. I got the genuine ones from co-op toyota (only 2 though) $121.55 I feel ripped off !
  14. if you go to "my latest aurion mods" MKAY did a run on thy dyno.
  15. thanks also adam I will get a price through them as well, but if its cheaper from the states, thats where i'll get it.
