  1. I get the dampy smell (the same smell of your towel after you use it, but then leave it to dry on a chair without properly washing it)... goes away after a few minutes though... i always thought it was condensation
  2. The 1zz and 2zz's use the same kit. However, the rubber hose that connected the intake tube to the throttle body is made for the 2ZZ TB i.e the diameter is different. You can still fit it but the hose clamp will end up squeezing the rubber hose down to fit. Which is why qkslvr advised me to buy another clamp that wouldnt bite into the silicon tubing.... think it cost $5 from supercheapauto.
  3. Hi Guys, Got my CAI installed about 2 weeks ago (thanks Qkslvr - I owe you one :D ) Now ive got a preface lift conquest (1zz) and dont have any foggies (but there's wiring for the foggies if I want them). Now there wasnt enough room to push to the pod filter down, so its up a fair bit I dont think im getting the proper airflow, and while the car sounds nice, the performance some what feels like its decreased :( So im wondering is there a way to push the POD down without removing the fog light covers. Im looking at the POD and cant figure out what was actually hitting it. Do any of the 1zz guys know a way around this? I would prefer to stick with the TRD pod as opposed to buying a K&N one, so guys please post up your suggestions. Thanks!
  4. To those who have a 1zz pre facelift, how far did you place the pod filter up the pipe? Qkslvr helped install mine (thanks mate! :)) but we pushed the filter up pretty far cos we didnt want to hit the bumper.
  5. hehe it looks like a hyundai LOL http://www.hyundai.com.au/swf/default.aspx?vehicle=i30
  6. gazoom has had his kit painted and fitted from dsports. Dave will do what he can to fit it, but if its a moulding issue from carmate, i doubt theres much he can really do. Still non the less, its best to speak to him in person. He'll be able to tell you if he can do it.
  7. You get plenty of bad smoke just by walking around Sydney itself. LOL
  8. I mount mine on with velcro. Ive got one of them wool/cloth that covers the dash so it sticks onto that. Quick and easy to put on/take off.
  9. Then have 1 ciggy. When i quit i bought a pack cos i really wanted one. Then i gave the rest of the pack to my mate. Few days later i wanted another one, so i did the same thing, bought a 25 pack, take one, then give it away. 3rd time around i got sick of buying smokes for a friends. So i stopped. LOL. You dont think about spending money when you are consuming it. However giving it away is a totally different situation altogether. For example, you got buy movie tickets that cost you $30, then you go have dinner. Just as you are about to leave dinner, you realised you've lost the tickets. At this point most ppl would get the sh!ts, and not want to go to the movie they feel stupid in paying for 2 sets of tickets. However, if you didnt buy the tickets beforehand, and lost $30 cash. You would still be inclined to buy the tickets and watch the movie. Financially you are no different either way, however because you actually bought the tickets and lost it, it makes you feel worse. PS: The harder you fight it the temptation, the harder it fights back. Just have one, otherwise you will act like a complete prick to everyone around you cos you want one so bad.
  10. Im in the market for some new brake pads... those damn EBC greenstuff have eaten my rotor (they have been fitted for just over 1 year). What brake pads are more rotor friendly (that wont cost me too much). I had a look at DS2500, but one place i called quoted about $300 (Can these be obtained cheaper?) But im not looking at some super high performance pad, just something for normal day to day driving. Whats a step below the DS2500?
  11. I think the ultimate test is to be able to stand next to a smoker (or a group of smokers) and not be bothered about it. Too many ex-smokers cannot stand the smell of 2nd hand smoke, they bitch and whine about how bad it is, blah blah. I reckon its only because part of them still wants one, but because they feel they cant, they get sh!tty. Even people who have been non smokers all their lives dont bitch as much as ex-smokers when people are smoking in front of them.
  12. bump! Any other places? (Preferably around western sydney)
  13. And if you really want one too... go join them. :) Patches cant beat all the urges!
  14. yea... stopped about 2 years ago after smoking for about 7-8 years. Cold turkey too. My only advice is that you only quit when you are ready to quit. Not because someone tells you to quit. (My reasoning was because i didnt want to get my tonsils removed. The fact that I would have to quit for 2-3 weeks before and after the operation was enough to make me quit permanently. Figured i might as well quit earlier and keep my tonsils and my money :P). The worse part of trying quit is not having one when you REALLY REALLY want one.... it irritates you so bad that all you do is think of it. When i was quitting and i got those cravings i just had one. Initially I would cut down how many i smoked a day, then I would see how many days I could without one. (though i did substitute with 2nd hand smoke. LOL. My aim was to beat the previous record... then next thing you know i had stopped by 1 month, then 3, 6, till it wasnt even worth while trying to pick one up.
  15. I dont know if im keen on the EBC stuff anymore.... im currently using the EBC greenstuff and i get a lot of brake dust as well as worn down discs. LOL
  16. sh!t.... i think that might be too late. Any recommended brake places in Sydney, Rollaboy recommended one, but they were located in Atarmon, i'd rather go somewhere in the west.
  17. Im in the same boat... cept i got a pre face lift. Anyone able to offer any assistance?
  18. Actually mine comes from the left front too So coincidental!
  19. Is this them? A.G.A. Engineering 40 Hotham Pde Artarmon NSW 2064 p: (02) 99062966 Btw, how much should machining the discs cost? And any recommendation on brake pads, i was thinking just going back to the toyota oem ones.
  20. About a year ago i got changed my brake pads to EBC green stuff, but silly me never bothered to get the discs machined. Now these brake pads are pretty much worn, and my discs are no longer smooth To give you an indication if you run your finger along it here how it would feel ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Its wobbly from the inside, and on the edge of the disc its a massive bump, its like the pad never made contact with it. Anyways, Im looking to get these fixed properly. Can anyone recommend a good brake place in Sydney that will supply and fit new brake pads, and machine my discs? And how much will it cost? Or am i beter off getting new discs altogether?
  21. My car has been making a grinding sound ever for the past year now, however it was always intermittent (maybe once ever 3-4 weeks), and it would make a sound as im braking (braking while turning, or going straight), then it would disappear and it would be impossible to replicate. In the last month, its been occuring about once a day, sometimes multiple times in a day, and it happens more frequently where there are two people in the car. I honestly have no idea what it is, but its a low pitched brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr sound everytime i brake. Could something be grinding against my wheel as Im braking??
  22. Spot on Xpolshun! Mines still in the boot!!! :( And its starting to annoy me.... not only do i not have it installed, its hogging my bootspace Any volunteers to install it for me? :P
  23. What is the effect of NOT changing the fuel filter? Increased fuel consumption?
