  1. Not sure, I might end up just putting better globes in to save the hassle. The car is on a bit of a backburner mod-wise at the moment, living at a house with a non-lowered friendly driveway and trying to save up some money to hopefully travel. If anything the next thing might be exhaust, would probably derive more enjoyment out of that :) I'd like to do a few things before the annual this year but it all depends on cash flow!

BTW - 2XS, that is a great teaser shot :D Hurry up and take some day time ones please!

  2. lol i meant to say there are aftermarket oem-like indash touchscreen DVD/GPS that you may want to have a look at (to replace the stock radio/CD/DVD unit). I didn't realise you can get it for $350-600 off ebay. I got it and just want to recommend it.

Better late to party than not they say. Welcome to the list :P

Ah, well thanks but no thanks. The OEM one actually has pretty decent sound quality when teamed up with an amp and better speakers, certainly suits my needs for the moment. And my budget

  3. I see he doesn't have indash oem fit dvd unit. :P

    Tash's one.

I see my reputation preceeds me!! Nice pics jeffy :D Sorry for being thick but I'm not getting the oem dash unit reference?? Only things changed in the interior is the speakers and amp. And I am most definitely a she :) Mine is also pre stability control :D

Good list of Gen 6 owners so far too, getting a pretty good spread of models and colours! Am I the only manual owner of this group??

  4. I'd go with Pete's recommendation, and I have heard before to do the 'horizontal' panels before you do the 'vertical' panels, so the bonnet, roof and boot first, then your doors, bumpers etc

I have spread out a detail over a few days/weeks before, but that mostly stems to a full detail i.e. exterior one day, rest of the exterior (wheels, trims) another day, interior another day, that sort of thing. If I'm going to clay, polish and wax I always try to do it on the same day to lessen the contaminants around spoiling my work, but have also done like Andrew and clayed one day, polished and waxed the next.

It'd be a great car to practice on too :)

  5. Will see what i can do with work. If i come i'll prolly stay with a friend so will be in need of a chaeuffer of sorts. Or Qld's we could stay at the same place as last time at Brighton from memory? It was cheap and nothing flash? Only have to sleep there!!

Just hold the thought RE Brighton - we are looking into some places that are a bit more north for this year but that's to be confirmed. As soon as we have the venues locked in (hopefully very soon) we'll investigate the accommodation so the interstaters can work out their arrangements/staying together.

Great to see people indicating their interest, it'll be a pretty similar format to the last couple of years with a few tweaks, just looking at what has and hasn't worked in the past and altering accordingly. It'll be a very fun weekend and a great opportunity to catch-up/make new friends. You can attend as many or as few things as you like according to your schedule, obviously the more the better and we'd like to see as many members as possible but understand that people have work and other commitments.

  6. take care you guys, hope you have a blast while i'm at home coughing my lungs out -_-

lols, just come, you can drive my camry ;), i wanna get some rolling shots

BG Pete could possibly save the day here?? If I've gotta lead parts my car won't be any good to take photos from, won't get many good shots looking backwards due to the curves. I know if you are at the back though you get good photos - we have done that before up there.

I'll update the attendance list again now :)

  7. Hahah, glad to see some renewed interest here! :D Plans are 100% sorted, meet up at Diamond Creek at 10am for a 10:30am kick off. As KRS said above if everyone drives properly it'll be a good fun run, its definitely not the place for acts of 'heroism'.

Thanks to Jeffy for the Google grabs, saves me doing it heheheh Have updated the first post with them.

  8. Damn, I really should keep up with this thread. I've done this new route many a time and its awesome! I'm UHF'd up too :P

I'll probably have a mate with me in ma car too.

Looking forward to the meet ;)

Great stuff :D It's a fantastic route you're right, especially when the weather is nice!

I rang the Igloo Roadhouse at Buxton yesterday, they were very happy to hear we're coming and will put an extra staff member or two on to accommodate us, so that's fantastic. Will be good to go and help out a community too that is still recovering from the bushfires, last time we went through there all the trees were burnt out stumps so will be interesting to see what has changed a year on.

  9. Hahahah, sorry Lee!! We'll definitely let you know if they're any good  I will give them a call and make a booking.

Anyone else coming along?? Jeffy, those pics are fine, the easiest way to go is to get back on the Western Ring Rd and follow that for most of the way, pretty quick especially on a Sunday morning. And the picture of McDonald's is spot on, in the past we have parked inside the car park towards the back past the drive thru, looking at that picture literally on the other side of the fence in front of the cars you see pictured.

fillit - don't worry, we won't be pushing too hard, will just be a nice run with a few spirited sections and no mishaps, the main aim is to catch up with each other, meet some new faces and enjoy the drive there and back to have a great lunch ;)

  10. If the Nov 20 Cruise is going to be a black spur run, why don't we cruise up to Igloo Roadhouse in Buxton for lunch? Never been there myself, but I hear the burgers are pretty good.

Can do that very easily :) Pass thru Marysville and straight up to Buxton, they're not very far apart at all. Done!

Jeffy - I can't see those pics here at work so I will confirm later on for you. I don't think the meeting point is too far for Westsiders to get to, it only takes me about and 1hr 30mins to get to Sunshine from Bendigo, or if I head to Diamond Creek from memory it only took me about an 1hr 45 mins coming from Bendigo. Should only be about half an hour/40 mins from Sunshine. The whole route though might look far yes :) But it actually doesn't take all that long to traverse.

  11. I believe so, it is literally right on the highway before the railway line, if you just put "Diamond Creek" as the destination into Google Maps and zoom in a bit you can see it marked there.

The thread for that meet is here: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php/topic/25746-vic-sunday-7th-march-cruise-dinner/

Unfortunately the document isn't working so I'll have to find it again on my PC at home. Obviously we start a bit earlier, meet at the Macca's at 10am and leave by 10:30, stop for lunch in Marysville and then its a good run back to Lilydale, which is not a bad location for everyone to break from, seems to put most people an equal distance from home.

    Here's the cruise route:

  12. Although I'm not going to this , can I suggest going earlier than 9am? Especially going as a group, you have to have some allowances in time (for people getting lost, getting caught up at lights etc us oldies know too well..). Those that went to the last meet down to GOR can verify, going to the GOR is a long day by itself. Adding stops for photos, stop for lunch; you don't want to be driving back when it gets dark.

    My opinion. :)

Hrrrm... if this is the case then we can't - already have to be up at 7am to ensure we make the 9am meet-up. I don't care if we only drive to Lorne and come back again, still see part of the route and can stop somewhere for lunch to chill for a bit.

We're definitely doing a meet & cruise on the 20th so the date won't change for those already committed, I'll make a stand here and say if GOR is too much this time then we'll recycle the cruise to Marysville, meet at Diamond Creek Macca's at 10 and you end up at Lilydale Lake by 2-3 in the arvo including lunch. What does everyone think? Saves GOR for early next year when more people can be committed and a proper recon run done. Plus I have done the route a couple of times before so happy to lead (given the absence of quite a few other regular members this month), we will just take it relatively easy.

  13. warrnambool is abit far, i think apollo bay is manageable, there's also marengo which is less packed.

Thank goodness  Wasn't sure whether we were intending on doing the whole distance or not. I don't believe I have been to marengo..

Don't believe we should go all the way to Warrnambool, it is too far and will be too long of a day, especially for those who live further out; please keep that in mind. :)

I propose we go to either Lorne or Apollo Bay for lunch (we went to Apollo Bay last time and it worked out fairly good). To that end, we would be able to catch up or talk more, opposed to be driving most of the time.

    My 2 cents. :)

That sounds like a great idea to me, then we can either go back the same way to Geelong or what not. As the last meet-up for the year and essentially our Christmas break-up (unless there is another Friday night meet or something) I'll definitely be up for catching up with people more than driving all day :) Plus it sounds as if there'll be some more new members along so don't want to get too carried away with the driving. I better get some candy canes or something organised hehehehe

  14. Just working out the finer details of doing this.. Where would we meet up in the morning do you think? Just trying to work out the rough timings of how long the round trip to/from Bendigo will be. If you keep going from Port Campbell to Warrnambool we will have to break off from there cos there's just too much distance to cover. Looking at around 9 hours already from Bendigo - Geelong - Warrnambool
