  1. Easy. Sell the corolla and buy a celica.. its better! :P
  2. Sent an email to Jesse Streeter
  3. Check your throttle cable, also do you have cruise control? if so it might be wise to open that up and see if its restricting your movement
  4. Without being able to clear my defect on the 82, I started to look for a daily, after considering my options the Celica was exactly what i wanted; 2zz, independant rear suspension and some luxuries The car I bought has 240xxx km on the clock. When I picked it up everything drove well apart from the engine, which stuttered and made noises and just didnt pull at all. So we ripped apart the engine, cleaned the OCVs to find it full of sludge and grime! Slapped it back together and the motor drives like new! The plan is just to build it as a quick car in the hills which has all the creature comforts you want in a daily :) Current mods: - ZRE152 Stereo (bluetooth+usb+mp3+aux) - Suzuki swift antenna As we were cleaning the OCV for the vvti, we needed to remove the belt to pivot the alternator out of the way. We ended up rounding off the tensioner, which caused a fair few dramas! We managed to get a flat hex socket on there, gave it a good pull and JUST as we were about to slip the belt on; this happened. So we came up with another solution using our trusty 2zz-rope (long story short it saves every 2zz we've touched) Now vvti is still a bit rattly but it works, and lift kicks in really well! Loving it! :D
  5. but the rolla is neither fast in a straight line or in the twisties Depends who is driving the wheel. To drive a slow car fast is better than driving a fast car slow. Justin's angry bird red ae82... Now that's a fast car in the twisties Naw thanks ^_^ Cant really take it to the hills anymore, but that car was on another level as far as handling was concerned :) ill update my thread in a week or so :P You got a new knob? What did you mean when you said you were polishing your knob? trololo VTAK on idle means fasts even when parked!!
  6. Paint it green... it would be unique and everyone will be mad jelly Sad to see you let this go, GLWS man (and by everyone i mean just Duy)
  7. 1. Its a common problem. You can use the key and open the door to be a gentleman for lady friends, or if you are just taking a mate and have long arms just reach accross to unlock it. ;) 2. The gearboxes ont he celica use a different shifting mechanism, although the insides are the same as the sportivo boxes, ive been told it shifts slightly better resulting in less wear and crunches, but its only minimally better as the synchros themselves are the issue. 3. AFAIK there are only small differences, the main ones to do with power are the lift bolt revisions, and the ECU rev limit drop. The pre-facelift are faster because of said rev limit differences. 4. The lift bolts are prone to breaking due to bad design, they rectified this with the facelift. Its a $100 repair (or $5 + 1 hour DIY job if youre handy with some tools) The lotus fellows say it should be done every 50,000km as a precautionary measure. Another notable issue is foggy headlights, but nothing a headlight restorer kit from SCA cant fix :) Ive opted for an SX model, I personally am not a fan of ABS, and need the headroom so sunroof is out of the question haha Good luck with the car hunt mate!
  8. Some wheels don't have the same caliper clearance as others, it doesn't have much to do with the offset. You will have to see how much it is fouling on the brakes, if it is minimal then shaving it with a file will suffice, if not, then a spacer will work. H&R do a spacer kit for many cars, not sure if they cater for the celica specifically but they should. They are hubcentric and have extended studs to suit. This is your safest and best option otherwise, but as mentioned, it ISN'T road legal.
  9. From what I gather you're looking for an OEM radio/headunit for an AE112, right? Best bet is to send your friend to get one from a wreckers for you and send it over, try ebay au for any AE112 that are being wrecked and ask specifically for the radio.
  10. Take it to another dealer or to get independently tested. Some dealers aren't too keen on fixing issues so they just let them slide.
  11. Check your ball joints? Mine almost came loose once and started thumping like mad
  12. So today I started prepping this for June 2... 8) Pretty much everything under the dash is coming out, and I have to sort out those pesky oil leaks!
  13. I've got a few roads which aren't on that list but they're a long long drive away :P ADGP has gone up in price, last year was $25!
  14. Best thing to do is to go to a wreckers and have a look at how the system works compared to yours before you start ripping it apart. compare each other so you have a better understanding. You may also need: - BMC - Brake lines that run under the whole car - Handbrake cable (connects to the caliper and pulls the pads together to hold the car, average setup for skids lol)
  15. Too many rwd vtak drifts :P Told you to get the steel lugs man... been telling you for ages haha
  16. Damn your ride must have been pretty low! Big fan of stancenation as well? haha My driveway is pretty steep so who knows how low I'd actually be able to go... 55mm lowest point when i got done. For those who say it isnt practical or doesnt maske a car fast, its all in how you set it up ;) Mine rarely scrubbed or scraped and handles like its on rails :) I appreciate stance, but safe to say Ive learnt my lesson from living that 'lifestyle' lol
  17. Throw a video up and we may be able to help you out. :) 10w40 is fine, as long as you keep up with the oil burning and not let it get low.
  18. There are plenty, any coilover brand should have a list of cars they cater for so you may have to look and see which suit your needs and budget. I should also mention, BC are the most common coilovers at the moment and they perform quite well!
  19. Sadly this didnt pass RWC, and if it didnt pass RWC then it wouldnt pass the pits :( So what does this mean? Well, this is now my track car! Ill be getting to work stripping this right out once i find a suitable daily driver... lol
