  1. Mine's facelift and still has the clutch problem. Jams up when I'm 8000rpm in 1st, trying to shift into 2nd gear. It doesn't go in until revs drop just below 6000rpm. Maybe when test driving the Sportivos, ask the owner to Lift from 1-2 and see how it is.
  2. new headlight for $80 for one side http://www.expresscarparts.com.au/default.aspx not genuine but meh, also yeah, you gotta take the bumper off. undo all the plastic screws from the hood, beneath the car and a screw each beside the front wheels. Only thing i can suggest is don't be scared to use a bit of muscle lol. after you get all the screws holding it in place it will still seem stuck. just rip it! lol
  3. this? http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/36956-clutch-adjustment-help/ I've read up on it only lightly since I've been busy with uni etc. The car's enjoyable enough as it is anyway =) Think after that and some better transmission oil it might fix the issue
  4. *sad face Ah well, stock seats are actually pretty comfy, and hug better than seats in lower ZZE models (used to have an Ascent). Coils will do the trick for lower sitting position then xD
  5. I have stock wheels as well, outside look completely stock, and I am under 100mm.. I have been pull over a few times for other reasons, they never notice. It is always the wheel that draws attention, unfortunately. If you want to change wheels, try toyota factory wheels, at least it look stock.. Don't do tinted lights or other stuff that will draw their attention There's a guy on the Sportivo FB page stanced on XXR 521s. He is almost touching the ground, but didn't think he's been defected either. Guess it's just luck lol I was driving back from snow with my HIDs and 3000k HID fogs on and drove passed a Nissan Patrol 4WD...was surprised nothing happened lol. Might have been a different story if it was a Highway patrol
  6. would bride rails fit on stock seats, if anyone knows? =S
  7. whoa, my previous owners must have been OK then, since i'm still on stock 'box and clutch at 120k km. I haven't tried landing 2nd gear in lift yet, as everytime i push the stick down to get into 2nd gear, it just kinda jams up and doesn't want to go in until the revs drop to 5500-ish rpm. Not sure if I'm just pussy or some of the gearboxes are like that. I'm a uni student too man, after insurance, rego, etc, I'm pretty broke as well haha. Reconditioning your gearbox is probably better than picking a 2nd hand one up since you don't know what it's been through. Your situation is kinda tough though since you need a fix ASAP. Public transport for the time being? xD
  8. city?! gawddamnit, i drive to uni in the city half the days of the week *cries over here in the east, coppers seem pretty chill =) I think if they hold a random car check I'd probably get defected too lol
  9. Don't think he ever got dicked when I asked...and he lives in Melbourne's West as well =S. Must have got real lucky.
  10. Guys! Digging up my old thread. I have since purchased a Sportivo. After some coilovers and wheels I'm aiming for this look. I think it's surprising how a Corolla can look, putting aside the compromises. Who's liking/who's hating
  11. How's 3rd gear now after you've installed your new clutch? Sick ride man! What's your ground clearance if you happen to know? lol
  12. any particular reason you went with these? unlike the standard BC BR coils everyone gets lol
  13. damnnn, very nice! What front bumper is that? Also, are those hellatones in the grill?
  14. *sigh guess you just have to play nice with the cops and keep your ride as clean as possible. Just out of curiosity (excuse my ignorance), what's the big issue with ground clearance? Is it only a few 'lucky' countries that have such laws? I mean, if you take a quick look on stancenation, stanceworks etc the cars are dropped to the ground. Even though some of the cars look stupid, I'm assuming in places like USA there's no such law? Is it to do with safety, or maybe insurance? (body kits getting ripped, pot hole damages etc?)
  15. gawd damnit! always too late when nice, clean, looked after Sportivos come on sale
  16. That is a solution! lol In terms of what annoys me the most in the Sportivo, it'd have to be: 1) wheel gap 2) ground clearance 3) sitting so high up in the cabin Changing tyre profile, lowering, and a pair of bucket seats would fix all of those But with all that effort, might as well start with a car that ticks all those boxes to begin with like an Integra or something. Might have to accept the fact the ideal Sportivo won't be happening staying legal =( There's a might car mods video about how to align the speedo if wheel profiles mess it up a little. Doesn't look too hard if i rmbr!
  17. 2nd one looks beast! Looks like a similar style to Audi lights, with the red strip surrounding the light
  18. having no wheel gap might be harder than i thought, while staying completely legal! I just found out about and joined the Facebook group called 'Toyota Corolla Sportivo' TONNES, of lowered Sportivos...much lower than anything you can find through google images or even these forums. As rollehpholleh also pointed out, a few have mentioned about needing to modify the mid pipe since it hangs very low, when you lower the car by a large amount. It's nice seeing members on here as well as that group!
  19. ^ :) i'd understand why 99% of people would never do that. maybe a few cm higher to make it less ridiculous, if that is even possible lol. I'm guessing all the crap on the rear wheel is meant to represent how the tyre will just chew up everything around it? hell, even if that is practically impossible to drive as a daily I'd at least try it to see what it's like. Found another example that is fairly low, compared to most Sportivos. I know this Sportivo's been sold but not sure if the original owner is from here? From the add I saw of this car, he seems to be from Melbourne.
  20. Jrad, that's a very nice Sportivo =) I think I may have exaggerated by how 'low' i meant by low. Maybe it's better to say, fitment where there's no fender-tyre gap. I'm more interested in that over slammed onto the road to the point where it looks stupid. If the Sportivo in this picture was dropped a few more cm to get rid of the fender-tyre gap it looks like it'd get close to being 10cm off the ground from the body kit at least. It still looks pretty drive-able if it was? I guess everyone has a different take to lowering and whether it's worth the disadvantages of being so low. The suggestions above have been a big help though. Hopefully some day soon I get to post my take on being low ^_^
  21. whoa didn't know anyone replied... i tried double sided tape and it did crap all. so my dad and i drilled about 10-15 holes, used aluminium strips and mounted it so it's not ever coming off again haha! My dad went a bit overboard, i was just planning to use washes and screws. I'll try get some shots of underneath the bumper. Also, if you look on Ebay, there are some that are from Melbourne/Sydney which ship very fast. Mine was $40 ($30 + $10 shipping), they give you about 230cm which is plenty. Shipped in a few days as well
  22. Because sportivos have a fukin **** rear sussy setup... you cant even have fitment without chewing guards and tyres. the wheel doesnt camber in as the sussy compresses like civics, integras etc and most importantly of all, its a corolla... 'stanced' or not, its still a gay corolla lol kids these days... still trying too hard to follow trends oh and by all means go low. when you get pulled by a hwp (and you will sooner or later)... its roughly $385 fine, major defect (possibly tow your car home), requires a RWC to clear. i spent over $1300 to clear my defect just cos i was too low. do it man, cry and tell the cop how youre a sick knt and low is your lifestyle You sound like a *****. Anybody that thinks using "gay" as an adjective in the pejorative is appropriate is not worth listening to anyways. Corollas are awesome cars! For something that is NA, i honestly can't think of another car that is such a good overall package. Corollas are cheap on insurance, last forever, and seem to have quite a bit of room for its size. I sat in an Evo 9 and the rear seemed more squished than a ZZE. Either there are very nice Sportivos that aren't on forums or people don't generally link Corollas with fitment, but after seeing a few examples I'm sure the Corollas has potential! It'd be good to find more Corollas like these:
  23. Yeah i'd go with coilovers for sure. Stance comes with compromise? xD My friend recently got coilovers in his dc2 Integra and lowered it a bit more. He's at least 15cm off the ground and it already looks pretty damn low so 10cm clearance is probably a generous amount (I had this thought that it was too large of a gap) Not many people do the whole 'stance' thing with a Sportivo and I think the car has quite a bit of potential if you're committed enough =) But on the other hand, I'll probably hate the compromises the come with being so low after I've experienced it Whoa 120mm already sounds pretty low. Since I've barely seen any Sportivos in Melbourne that are lowered my only reference is from pictures. Would you happen to have any pictures of your car you could upload? =D Damn your ride must have been pretty low! Big fan of stancenation as well? haha My driveway is pretty steep so who knows how low I'd actually be able to go...
  24. I don't see too many slammed or extremely low Sportivos on the internet, they're actually hard to find! Is anyone actually running such a low setup on their Corolla, and if so, have they had more attention from police? I'd assume Corollas are not the type of car police would take a 2nd look at, and my area doesn't seem to have too many hoons so there's not much police attention. But whenever I find the right sportivo I do plan on lowering it by quite a bit. I've seen a few very nice looking ZZEs with 16 (can't rmbr tyre size) and almost no gap between tyre and fender. Would anyone happen to knwo the approx ground clearance for this? Would love a similar setup to the Black Sportivo on this forum with 16x8 BBS rims. http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8zztoD4FG1rrrd3ro1_1280.jpg Doesn't quite look like 100mm off the ground but it's hard to tell.
  25. FM Transmitter would always work if you don't mind it taking up the cigarette lighter ;) Sound quality is pretty nice as well.
