  1. Didn't know they were different in the 2 Type R models!
  2. I tried reading up about these a while ago on the internet. There's a bit of hate on these replica seats since people who buy the real thing get mad lol. Read a pretty long thread on some STi/Evo forums. I think one of the most important factors is safety, and whether you'd trust your life with that seat, if you did get in an accident. Especially the recliner ones...you don't know how strong they will hold up in crashes. You might save $1k on each seat, but some say you'd be better off just paying that extra $1k because it might actually mean your life. If anything, I'd get the 1 piece non-reclining seats since they should be more sturdy than the reclining ones. My friend's got 2 Bridge Gias replicas in his track car but with geniune takata harness and rollcage. Maybe this could ensure better safety if you decide on getting replicas. I used to want to get them as well, but I think now I'd rather settle with some genuine Recaros. If you look around Honda forums you might be able to find some 2nd hand Type R Recaros (Recaro SP3 i think?) for around $1k which isn't that much more than replica Brides.
  3. you found fog light housing for $50 for the pair?! i would love to know where you found them =) or was it a private seller? EDIT: my bad, got excited and thought that's what u meant by indicator stalk lol to get the foglights to work though you would've had to purchase the fog light housing or does ur car already have it?
  4. Looking for a pair of fog light enclosures If anyone knows of a wrecked Levin/Sportivo that i could snatch them off that'd be great as well! Thanks!
  5. What's going on guys, Just felt like sharing my current ride, Just installed a universal lip; fresh look for the fresh Uni semester! Can't have a fresh start to Uni if your ride to the train station isn't fresh either ;) This is my father's driving instructor car so i can't do any performance mods Just realised I've spent less than $40 on mods, so here it goes! $30 universal lip (eBay) $8 TRD Antenna with the most genuine carbon fibre on it lol (eBay) $1 red wheel caps (eBay) Debadged rear Took off hub caps and sprayed steelies in gloss black and clear coat (dunno if you can get any cheaper/lazier with a paint job) Since I don't have any brothers able to drive yet, this car will just be lying around unused for 6 days of the week, so have to wait another year or 2 before I can find a nice Sportivo to spend proper money on. If i can find some fogs from a wrecked levin/sportivo that'd be next, and maybe a whole set of window visors. Might also try play around with the centre console lights and do an amber/orange theme like the ZRE corolla has. Thanks for looking!
  6. whoa they are cheap, even after shipping! I've got a friend who bought just a pair of front deflectors for $120 for his dc2 excl. shipping. Is the provided tape strong enough or do people use other methods to stick them on?
  7. Don't think so lol I've only ever seen your car once at Maccas. First ever nicely modded Sportivo I had ever seen. I think maybe your car got me interested in the Sportivo haha. I didn't know about them before that day.
  8. Kenshin X i thought you were 30 tops LOL I turned 20 a few months ago. Full time uni students as well, hopefully majoring in actuarial + finance. I've worked a few different part time jobs; casino dealer (bit of eye candy on friday nights), tutoring, piano teaching Always used to carry a toy car around when i was little, but i think initial D might have kick started it lol
  9. I'm lost for words lol. Hope you solve your issues soon I'm out!
  10. I have no idea what you are talking about. I was buying a new car. I wasn't selling a car. My car has paint stains all through it along with scratch marks which I'v eposted a few times in here. Here is the image again. When they sell their cars you pay them and then you are taken out back to their hanger area and then you drive it off. It did not even occur to me to look over the car. I signed a contract thinging I was suppose to get a brand new car and who would have thought about lookingh inside the car for paint stains. Like I have said I know nothing about cars. The car I test drove and the words seca on the back and was a thinner model car where the doors basically go vertically down from the top of the car where the one I have they jut out on a curved angle. I suggest you go try one before posting again. People that have them are saying the same things in many forums. You say your 8 year old could park it. Lets try that out. Get a camera and let him drive the 2011 model close to the petrol pump. You pay for the damages when he hits it or can't reach the pedals. I bet you your kid would scream like a little baby and be scared and probably go to the toilet in the car. lol. Sorry, i typed the wrong word. I meant "I dunno how you got tricked into receiving the wrong car" If you saw paint stains, wouldn't the 1st thing to do is to go back to the dealer, and ask "WTF is wrong with my (and highlight) NEW car?!?!" Or did you just go "oh...damn it's got paint stains...I must be unlucky...I'll just sit at home and not do anything about it." There's nothing wrong with having little knowledge about cars. It's worrying when your IQ is just as low. I do actually drive the Corolla in your picture. You drive the 07-11 model which is the ZRE. I know because my door looks exactly the same. Do you think i'm making up sh*t? I also drive the older one, 02-06 Corolla which has 'SECA' written on the back. That is the older generation. Since you're so stubborn and pretty much won't listen to any opinions in this thread, do you want proof that I actually drive both Corollas? =) Also, you misunderstood. I said my 8 year old brother. and LOL I am quite confident my brother won't put a single scratch on the car and be well within 2 metres from the pump. Give him an hour's practice to learn how to turn the steering wheel, shift between D and R, and he'll be parking nicer than you ^_^
  11. I've read your other threads as well and honestly don't get how you were tricked into selling a car. I'm actually curious lol. The car couldn't have had a different interior (which you state) unless it's a different model? I Or did you test drive the sedan when you bought the hatch back? Since the ZRE hatch and sedan had slight interior differences I honestly don't get how you didn't realise it wasn't the car you ordered/requested. It was still the same colour/transmission/model right? Back to your original topic, car designs evolve every day. If you want all those little things you're winging about, get a 20 year old car. They are shaped like a box and you will see whatever part of the car you want. I wouldn't want to know what happens when someone t-bone's you or crashes you head on. Car designers and Engineers have moved on...your idea of safety is much different to others. Putting up flags, getting handle bars or whatever you suggested, they just sound stupid... Unless you are exaggerating a lot, I bet my 8 year old brother could park closer to a petrol fill up pump than you. Corollas usually never have all the little extra gadgets like cameras to keep costs down. I haven't checked but Corolla is usually one of the cheaper small-medium sized cars you can get. If you want all those gadgets you'll have to fork out a little more for a Civic/Focus/Mazda 3 etc... Every car has different dimensions. Some cars have longer hoods, some cars have longer rears...you just have to adjust. No matter what you complain about here nothing is going to change how you feel about your car. It doesn't seem like anybody else is having the troubles you are experiencing. Seriously, put a large cardboard box in front of your car and slowly drive into it. When the car nudges the cardboard box, you will know exactly where you should be looking. Do the same for the rear and side as well since you're having trouble getting close to petrol pumps.
  12. I'm going to add my 2 cents into this discussion =) I've driven/drive 3 generations of Corollas We have an AE112, ZZE and ZRE in our family. I hardly drive the AE112 anymore, however i actively drive the ZZE and ZRE. My dad is a driving instructor (ZZE is manual, ZRE is auto) so i drive whichever he's not using, usually driving different cars going and coming back from the train station. The AE112 used to be the automatic instructor car before he upgraded to the ZRE. My thoughts: AE112 - easiest to position since it feels narrower. While the car might actually be a bit longer than the ZZE, I can see the bonnet very clearly making it easier to see the front. Oldest car with thinnest pillars, however because of it's swooping rear (seca model) judging the rear is still hard. ZZE - the car i drive most often (since nearly no-one goes for a manual licence these days). KenshinX said the blind spots were terrible but I find them quite unobtrusive compared to the ZRE. I can zoom up my driveway pretty damn fast in this, whereas I have to feather the throttle in the other 2 cars. ZRE - i could barely drive the thing when it was first delivered. The car is wider, can hardly see any of the bonnet, I definitely found it hard to park. I park the slowest in this, but it's nowhere near impossible. However my dad can get within 10cm from the lawn mower sitting at the front of the garage in one shot. (you can't even see the lawn mower from inside the car) - he drives it every day for hours and i'm sure he has a really good 'feel' for the car. I say it's all about skill and getting the 'feel' for the car. It's a lot about judgement and confidence as well. While I didn't really talk about blind spots in reference to larger pillars in newers cars etc, I still think these can all be overcome with practice. I admit I have trouble parallel parking the ZRE sometimes since I'm not as familiar with the car, but it doesn't hurt to spend 5 seconds stepping out of the car, seeing how much room you have between the front/back car then re-parking. Most often than not, when you think your rear is about to kiss the car behind you, there's still a metre gap lol. Happens to me all the time!
  13. Since I'm driving a bomb that will be passed onto my brother, just gonna be doing small things to learn my way around the car before i get a Sportivo Reprayed steelies gloss black white LEDs for rear number plate lights wanting to try change interior lights to white as well (instead of the original dull green) attempt JDM tailight mod If i already had the sportivo though, first thing i'm buying is coilovers and CAI. CANNOT stand stock height lol. Saw a borderline-slammed silver sportivo with stock wheels etc and it still looked amazing. So coilovers and CAI definitely
  14. Deep dish steelies anyone? I've googled them a bit after seeing mighty car mods get them for the Golf project car they featured in a recent video. I've also read you can get 4-stud ones off Jeeps which are pretty damn wide. If you do a bit of googling you see people in Civics running them with stretched tyres as well haha.
  15. Makes sense!! How many of the new Corollas have you guys seen on yhe road? I've only seen 1 lol. Probably because i don't drive enough. They look so much sleeker imo though. Both the new corolla amd camry have much nicer designs i reckon
  16. I'm just thinking if u take ur foot off the accelerator say at 60km/h in 4th you'd be driving at around 2000rpm, but if u chuck it in neutral it pretty much drops to idle revs which is around 800rpm? The engine would be doing less revolutions but does that mean it'd be saving fuel? The car uses up fuel to idle anyway so it doesn't stall so mehhhhh i'm just pullinf these ideas from my mind lol
  17. ohh i see, makes sense. i guess i do that too without even realising when i drive automatic lol. fivese7en, is there any sort of danger doing it in a manual? there's just something in the back of my mind saying there's something dangerous about it...dunno what =S pushing it into neutral when you are going through turns might be dangerous yeah? especially if you're braking, and shifting the weight of ur car around etc? i have a friend who does it in his Integra VTi-R and he averages about 8-9L/100km as well. Dunno how he does it as he constantly shifts at around 4k rpm
  18. coasting as in chucking it in neutral and just letting it roll? is that bad in any way, such as having less control over your car etc, especially when turning? i'm mostly driving in the suburbs these days, so i'd hardly be able to reach those figures. the new CVT transmission, spec wise, has better fuel economy than the manual in the new Corolla. what happened to the days when manual was both more fuel-economical and faster than automatic transmissions =( pretty much all Ferrari's and Lamborghini's come in the one and only paddle shift these days lol
  19. I swear i'm nioy a heavy footed driver! Lol. Last time i refilled i calculated i was averaging about 6.9L/100km. Even if it's not thar accurate it's better than the 8L/100km i usually get. Shifting earlier and driving like a snail makes a huge difference lol
  20. the quoting is getting so hardcore! lol not going to quote the above, but rolla91, how do you manage 650km/tank!? IIRC i've only ever seen around 550km for a tank, and that was all pretty much highway driving to the snow mountains. other than that my the orange light turns on at around 450 most of the time. i usually only drive to and from the train station which is about 10 minutes away...i also heard warming up your car for a long time uses quite a bit of petrol lol. dunno if it's true or not.
  21. ^ that would be a miracle come true! Is there still room for a high revving na engine though, especially when we have increasingly stricter emissions/environmental regulations etc. i rmbr reading the Civic Type R stopped production in Europe because they couldn't be bothered changing the engine to keep up with the regulations over there. maybe we'll only be seeing forced induction if anything in the future?
  22. they're that expensive?! I've seen a few on ebay for $2-3k but they're on the US site and who knows how many km they've done... also found this after a quick search http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f25/230hp-trd-spec-2zz-ge-engine-2841/ it's classified as a race engine, but 2zzge with 230hp for $8.5k haha. what a nutcase of an engine. as posted by the OP of that thread, Upgrades: Hi compression forged pistions 13:1 Forged Lightweight Connecting Rods Regrind Cams Better Valve Springs Upgraded Valves Since there's a lot of people doing engine swaps in Civics and Integras, there seems to be a fair amount of B series and K series engines going around. Since the 2zzge is used in lotus, celica as well as the corolla shouldn't there be a few of them around as well? or is it just an undesirable engine when it comes to engine swaps?
  23. 02-06 Corolla is 100kw, think 07-12 is a little more as well? Not sure if they changed the engine again from the ZRE152 series I like the sharper exterior lines...would look very nice stanced =D
  24. 6kw more than Sportivo, but 150kg heavier hmmm...the 2 sound pretty close to me ^_^. Should be just as fun then. The FN2 didn't seem to pull as hard in VTEC compared to some of the Sportivo videos i've seen on youtube. It was bone stock though. I'd be using it as a daily for sure, and I often drive my 2 smaller brothers around so i sure need the practicality of the Corolla. I've thought about getting a DC2 VTi-R but my head was hitting the roof in the back seat of a friend's and i'm only about 170cm. so nopeeee not gonna happen haha.
  25. exterior, i reckon the car looks a lot more striking than previous models. love the front end, one of my friend's hates the rear, but i think it's pretty nice lol. love the new rear bumper as well. they could easily turn that into a diffuser of some sort for a sport model not sure about interior though...looks like they took cues off the 86? i don't really like anything apart from the dashboard and steering wheel. the centre console area looks kind of cheap. is this the new 'design language' or w/e Toyota is going for?
