  1. Hi guys, I'm in the market for a black on black Presara 08 model preferably & have test driven about 7 so far & have walked away from 6 of them after finding that the responsiveness varies from car to car - some

of them are just outright slugs & a few borderline O.K

The car that I'm comparing them to is my mother inlaws' 07 AT-X which is super responsive & pulls like a freight train

Please note: all the cars I've driven we're medium KM cars ie 60-110,000k's

Could the reason for the difference in responsiveness between these cars be due to the way they've been driven & the ECU has adapted to that & it could be straightened out by driving the car harder or is it just dependant on the particular vehicle - also, is it possible that my mum in laws' AT-x is just a freak one?

    Thank you

Try putting the car in S mode. That way you override the auto box's logic which learns how you drive. In S mode I understand it uses the default shift map instead of the one it 'learns' from the driver

  2. Oh ok, but are they just HID projectors with halogens in them? Because mine is a 08' ZR6 and the lights appear to be yellow (halogen)

Nah the Presara do have the HID/Xenon bulbs in them, when I turn mine one they're like a bluish-white colour

yeah I just found out its only the Presara that has the HID in them for the 2006- model year, only the 2012 onwards Presara and ZR6 has them

  3. True but the Presara model does have xenon/HID projectors unlike the AT-X models

He's correct. My car has Halogen projectors. Sportivo ZR6 and Presara both have HID projectors.

    ATX - Halogen

    Touring (mine) - Halogen

    Sportivo SX6 - Halogen

    Prodigy - Halogen

Sportivo ZR6 - Xenon (known as HID)

Presara - Xenon (known as HID)

Is that true for 2008 pre face lift models? Im pretty sure mine are halogen

  4. Apart from the year difference they won't fit sportivo models. Different fog light shape again. I haven't found any for sportivos

I see. I see plenty of cars everyday with third party DRLs but they're just attached somewhere on the lower bumper which to me doesn't look very streamlined or in their right place. If theres no foglight surrounds for sportivos then I guess I might as well drop the idea

  5. I saw these DRL surrounds for the foglights from a previous topic: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Camry-Aurion-2010-2011-LED-Fog-Lamp-cover-Daytime-Running-lights-chrome-DRLs-/320851069857?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4ab436cba1#ht_5804wt_1163

but, they don't seem to look the same shape as the ones on my Aurion.

    1) My Aurion is a 2008 Sportivo ZR6 (pre-facelift) so will these still fit, if at all? I recall someone saying there is almost no difference between the facelift and pre facelift front area.

    2) Am I better to buy these from the ebay seller or from R style Thailand?

    3) Since i am in NZ, are there any special customs rules I need to comply with?

    4) How do the DRLs go on and off? Do they go off when you switch on the headlights etc?

And finally, those DRL surrounds look like they flatten out a bit and 'chop out' a bit of the fog light, is that so?

    Cheers for reading

  6. Something similar happened to my 2008 ZR6 the other day at the video store. Pushed the button, everything lit up as usual, heard this rapid clicking sound. I did think my starter was bust, luckily the storage yard for the local towies was next door and he offered to tow me, but then we decided to see if it was a flat battery. The horn and lights actually still worked so I thought it was the starter....anyway, brings over the portable jumper and surprise surprise, car starts first push of the button. So try jump starting the car, see if that works. If not, try a new battery?

  7. Seeing the thread just recently about replacing the turn bulb in the side mirror reminded me of an idea that I've been sitting on ever since i got my Aurion. Is it possible, to replace said bulbs with LED turn signals like in the new Mercedes/BMW/Audi side mirror turn signals?

Or is such an idea too costly, or too difficult to pull off? For me, this is not neccessarily a desire for my car to look high class like those prestige vehicles, but the turn signal in the mirror on the Aurion is actually not that visible to other cars, especially in bright sunlight.

    Cheers

  8. So long story short..tried to remove the C-pillar to get the parcel shelf off and see if I could find what was rattling around, somehow managed to splinter the white plastic clip that goes into the hole. Now I can't get the damn thing back on and as stupid as I know it sounds, how can I go about this without an expensive trip to the dealer? :(

  9. Hi guys, I seem to be in the same boat as Graeme. I've had my 07 prodigy for about 12 months and fuel consumption figures seem to hover around 13.5 - 14.5 l/100km. The car is used by my wife to bus kids to school, do shopping etc. I live in Bundaberg, QLD so while I would call it city driving, it's not subjected to the rigours of driving in Brisbane. Probably more comparable to suburban driving. I recently did a run to Toowoomba and back and got it down to 7.9l/100km. All of this is on bp ultimate 98. Question is, can we do anything about it??? Why is my car (and Graeme's) so much thirstier than other aurions around the place???

Do you stop and accelerate a lot? like from traffic lights and intersections.
