  1. Just took my car to the 20,000km service this morning. I had also stated the gear change problem, 1st - 2nd above 6,000 rpm.....can't shift, need to wait till it drop to 5,000, as well as crunchy shift 3rd to 2nd.........all that kind of crap  .

Also, the rattles behind the stereo when driving over bumpy road.

It is the second time I bring it in for the gear change issue to the Sydney City Toyota.

The car will be ready at about 4:30pm today.

Wish me luck guys ~~~ :)

  2. you can get the rails off a set of corolla seats from the wreckers.  Then a small mod and they fit onto the new style recaro's without any probs.  There was a complete set of new corolla seats in a pulled apart corolla at the wreckers at Yatala when we were there this morning.

Depending on the wrecker, you should be able to obtain a set of rails for $50-100.  Or you can go and purchase a set of genuine recaro rails to suit the corolla, but a better set can be made DIY for a lot less money.

I'd personally go for a set of Bride GIAS if you want a low seat and can afford them.  http://www.bride-jp.com/products_lm_rec.html

How much does a pair of Bride GIAS cost???

  3. Thanks heaps for that guys, il try the paint pens on something first then maybe on the handles and air vent. Ive wanted a van for a few years now and bought it last friday. Il keep you all updated. your truck sounds like a beast! Im from sydney cronulla where do they stock these chrome mirrors etc. im very interested. thanks

Jmorson, I found those in this web site

    www.kingsmart.com.hk

Go and have a look :)

I think the prices listed there were not really right, $USD 300 for the side mirror with indicator while the front spoiler for the Hiace is just $USD275, doesn't make sense to me, if you are interested you better enquire them by email B)

  4. i got mine for just under $27000 driveaway.... milked alarm, tints, paint protection and mats.  I told them crap about someone offering $26500....I tried for the extended warranty...no go...i guess i ran out of milk....mines exactly 2 weeks old tommorow....just under 1000kms....05/05 build.

fark mine is 1 month old and havent hit 1000km yet .. lol ima take it on a central coast run on saturday give it some k's

hahaha...i guess i drive alot on the weekends...

after reading the previous post.....I didn't know about the Sportivo Pedals!!!! WHERE CAN I GET EM? How much are they?????

You can get one from a Toyota dealer for about $120 as I remember.

  5. take a look at the surroundings...

things like hills, large buildings, and srong magnetic fields from high voltage powerlines all affect the FM band. The distortion is greater due to the shorter wavelengh of the broadcast signal on FM.

maybe if everyone's car had the crackle in my area then fine ... but only i get the crackle :S its a really short intermittent crackle like every 30 secs

Romp, my car's radio does not receive signals probably since day 1, I seldom can get a CLEAR channel to listen to, so I just BURN heaps of CDs and listen to it. <_<

  6. I found a little trick in my Corolla. Hit the rev limiter in every gear and you land in lift all the time. I guess every car is different, but this works for my car 100%. It always lands at 6400-6600.

Would i be wrong in saying that hitting the rev limiter constantly is not much good for your engine, especially if it is such a high rever?

That being said, in the 1zz, you get the best shifts in the lower gears if you can change RIGHT on the first rebound off the rev limiter, if its a cruddy road, i can even get chirpage with this technique from 1st to 2nd.

However i dont really want to wreck my car and because the 1zz isnt designed for high revving, i try and avoid it.

I guess the reason for the rev limiter to be there is to protect your engine reving too hard and up into the "danger" zone of damaging the engine

  7. Jmorson, where are you from???

There are actually heaps of parts for the Hiace from Japan, spoiler, full body kit, electro-plated chrome handles, chrome side mirror with indicator.........etc

But they are not popular in Oz.

  8. How much were the fog lamps and where did you install the switch? Did you get a new stalk?

The foggies came as part of my insurance fixup (they saw the empty holes and assumed they flew out in the accident.)

I wired them in myself, all you need is a relay and some wire splicers, I opted for a no switch setup that tapped the switching power for the relay from the parking lights.

So when i flick my parkers the foggies come on too.

If ur're in melb I can help you install them, just go get the foggies! The components to wire it in cost about ... $10ish for the relay... $5 for the wires...$7 bucks for the splicers and the heads... soon to be polarg foggies + HID = priceless look on oncoming traffic

Negaron, so everytime you turn on your lights, your foggies will come on???

If so, what if you are driving pass a cop's car, if it's under fine condition I guess they might pull you over. They DO pull people over with foggies on when it's not raining and foggy.

Man, then you wouldn't be able to do anything, that's for sure that you can't switched off the lights and try to get away but if the lights are on, the foggies are on. :(

  9. Maybe a little off topic......I am recently start playing GT4 (Yeah, I'm a bit out dated, am I :P ).

When I use my Silver RUNX (go Silver~~).......it seems it's impossible to land lift 1-2. Even I got the TRD racing clutch and flywheel, it still the same. The rev land at 5,000 rpm after shifting the 2nd.

I wonder it's the way our car is since I was never been able to land lift 1-2 with my Sportivo. And I wonder why you guys can land lift 1-2 ????:blink::huh::huh:

  10. who's gonna buy a 40-45k EP3R civic? they cost even more than an astra turbo in the UK. and a/c is optional. euro specs, which i'm guessing they will import if they do, have no LSD and a heavier flywheel, too. CTRs aren't built elsewhere apart from swindon.

correct me if i'm wrong, it's just some food for thought.

In the UK, it sells for around 22k Euros (mate of mine in the uk bought one for 18.5k) which is just under $30kAUS. Being produced in Swindon, England... by the time it gets here, who know's how much it'll cost on top of other costs as well. Yeah A/C is optional for some reason, price issues maybe. The newer 2005 model have a lighter flywheel (30% lighter if i recall correctly). If they can settle it around the 35k mark over here, i don't see why people won't buy it, now that the Corolla Sportivo has ceased production... doesn't leave too many options. It's hard (wrong?) to judge a car based on its value without driving it and just looking at paper figures.

From the numerous reviews i've read and seen in the hot hatches market, the type r always ends up a clear winner. Surely that means something doesn't it? I'm not judging anything here of course. But who knows, this may be useless to us as it may not get imported at all.

I think they would opt to bring in the Euro vesion for a few reasons like what they did to the Integra TypeR -> Integra TypeS.. targets a bigger audience and market. The most crucial factor for me is price, if it does come to Oz.. i'll be waiting! ;)

Join the club!!!! I've got a pic of a Type R Civic on my fridge form about 2 years ago when Honda Australia were looking at importing them the same way Mitsubishi import Evo's on the low volume import scheme. If Honda could get the numbers to fit they said they'd do it but obviously it didn't happen.

But I'm waiting in earnest and if they can get them here for the right price then I'm there. ;)

Me too :) , I'm dying for it. Haha, we will all change over to Honda then.

Btw, are you guys talking about the EP3 Type R or the latest version of Civic which will be out in early 2006??
