  1. Hi gang did a search and found one that said just pull it off but when I do it only comes so far and the clips look like they need to be torned some how? Also the top sits out instead of firm against the head lining. I bought a DAB+ radio nad want to run some cables up through there. On a side note the DAB pure Highway is no good out Penrith NSW way. Tried it today and signal just keeps dropping out. So will just tuck the leads in behind the pillar, (The antanae is a stick on one and is now stuck and to remove it would ruin it.), until the powers that be inprove the signal out west. I hear that will not be until 2013 dagnabit. Spied
  2. Hi gang, anyone know how to remove the plastic section in the roof lining of the 2007 gen 6 Camry? I have just bought a Pure Highway DBT and think that mounting it in there woul be better than stuck on yet another gps style mount. Thanks gang.
  3. Fitted today, imho they look good and yes they only come on when the lights are off. On shutdown it takes a few seconds for them to turn of and they look like they are meant to be there, very happy with the result.
  4. Just a note. You do not need to take of the plastic splash gaurd, There are holis in it that lin up with the adjuster and a phillips head screwdiver will do the trick as inside the "knob" is a screw. Thanks gang all adjusted now but on still seems brighter than the other, perhaps a dud bulb.
  5. Okay no flame wars here. Very valid points on all sides and I am definatly anti legislation being forced on us for the sake of it. As I stated before, bikes were my life for 30 odd years, i was horrified at the BS they tried over the years as in mandatory reflective vest's and hard wired headlights. Everyone seems to see the big black Harley and the cop bikes too. The headlight one got through in 88 I think and was done for "safety" reasons. It also stopped me from alerting peep's ahead using my passing flasher which stood out like dog balls from no lights to high beams. I am anti Big Brother and have chosen to put these on as a personal preferance. I have a beige 2007 Camry that i like but am no modding and adding for looks, oh apart from the Aurion style spoiler I fitted as the rear looked real bland to me. On my old Yamaha FJ 1200 it had air scoops on the side to direct cooling air over the two centre cylinders as it was three quarter faired and air cooled. I fitted amber truck side lamps inside and wired it to the headlights. It looked great at night, a similar idea to the septics hard in indicators. That was just something to be differant back then, in the 70's i made a rack for my old Yamaha and mounted a high brake light on top year before the came out in cars. I must say I find this forum very informative, helpful and entertaining. Keep it up gang. Spied
  6. Smidge over $200.00, I know I could have done this a lot cheaper, but have dealt with this shop for many years and always get good service, back up and proffesional work. When I rode bikes did nearly all my own mods and work but even though I am getting on in years only had cars the last 15 or so years and not into stuffing up on them.....
  7. I got the 4's and think they do make a car more visable in daylight. Went with Phillip's because they are supposadly high quality and meet the standards in Europe, plus warranty and local supply so any issues are easy to sort as opposed to Ebay IMHO of course YMMV.
  8. Okay just found a clip on U tube with a bloke showing the same kit and when he turned his lights on the DRL's turned off. In another clip it shows splicing a wire into the headlight wires that goes to the Phillips control box, so that must trigger the controller to turn off the DRL's. Cheers.
  9. Anyone know if the Phillips ones turn off at night? I would think they would as they are supposed to be legal in the eurepean market. Mine are in at Autobarn and getting installed on Wednesday. Spied
  10. Okay to be fair I have a 2007 Camry ex Budget renta racer. Had 95K on it when I got it. Ciggie burn in roof lining, missing lighter, small dings and scrathes and a torn rear bench seat. It had aso been gutter jumped as underneath one of the engine mount plates has been badly bent. I recently had to replace the wheel bearing on that side front, fairly expensive. They do not service the transmissions, ever at Budget. I had the car serviced, stitched up the seat, put seat covers on and cleaned her up. She has the rattles at differant temps in the dash and console and I was under her yesterday adjusting the foglamps thanks to DJ's help and noticed the transmission pan is weeping and there is a dirty oil film on the steering rack. So may need to get the rack swapped out but have a mate in that game, the tranny is most likely the pan gasket and that is due again in 800 k's so not worried, tha car is great and I love it. Best of al it was free. This is my second ex rental with no real bad issues. Spied
  11. Thank you very much sir.
  12. Any idea how? I am a bit worried about breaking the covers, as I did not install these. Had an auto electrician do it? Thank you.
  13. Hi gang, anyone know if these can be adjusted? On side is definatly higher than the other.
  14. Nothing wrong with being young mate! This forum is great. Ordered the Phillips DRL's today through Autobarn, just the four led ones. Should be in next week. Foglamps going in tomorrow.
  15. how much were those ? --------------- THESE LOOK LIKE THE DUCKS GUT'S i ALSO FOUND ANOTHER LINK IN faq FOR THESE FROM eUROPE. i LIKE THAT THEY MEET EURAPEAN STANDARDS Sorry cap's lock was on and didn't mean to shout. They ae very expensive from europe. Anyone know of a local importer or another supply line that is not so exxy? No access to ebay here at work. Bummer. Spied
  16. Thank you. If I install strip led's do I just attach to the live wire and earth the other wire? Or do I splice to both? I have some led strips but unsure which side is positive. Thanks again. Spied.
  17. Sorry guys if this sounds dumb, but how do you access the wires? I see hoe to open the cage to replace the globe but unsure of how to remove the assembly to access the wires above. TIA Spied
  18. Do you mean for the electrics or to ground the car?
  19. 645 tonight Autobarn called to say the replacement unit is in and they will fit it tommorow. Been a struggle so lets hope this unit holds up.
  20. Okay guys I know I have a Camry but have noticed in the last few weeks when taking off or stopping at lights the car feels strange. The closest thing I can eqaute it to is the feeling you get on a motorbike when your steering head bearings are worn. My camry is a face lift 2006 build 2007 shape and an ex Budget rental. It has 111000 k's on it. Does this sound similar to what you guys are discussing? I have a mate who is a mechanic and does my transmission servicing, which is due in 3500 K's so I will get him to check it out. I have had two wheel alignments and my fronts are scrubbing out badly on the outside edges. Car drives straight. Again I know this is the Aurion section but the cars share so much and the info here is awesome so I hope you will all forgive me. Any info is great. Spied.
  21. Well i would advise strongly against buying Clarion. I was told two weeks ago it would be ready this week, (two weeks ago.). Rang later that week, still not in. Rang last week and was told still not repaired??? Would be in at Autobarn next Friday, (Tomorrow now.). So based on past experiance rang today to get Autobarn to check with Clarion that it would indeed be in tomorrow. Autobarn called Clarion then called me back this afternoon. The story changed again. They now say they are not repairing the roof mounted DVD player that they said they repaired and shipped on the 16th of last mont. Instead they are supplieng a new unit. The chap from Autobarn asked when they shipped it and Clarion said, according to Autobarn, that the unit was still with Clarion. Autobarn requested they air ship it so it must be interstate. So although my local Autobarn have been great to deal with, the follow ups have always been up to me to initiate. For a $1000.00 + unit it has been a pita. Will keep you all posted.
