  1. Thank you for the last post, great you have it sorted and I am sure someone else will find that usefull. Spied.
  2. I used fiams on my motorbikes, they are uaualy red and nice and loud.
  3. As you can see March 23rd and the Clarion dvd player is still not back from repair. HAVE RUNG ONCE A WEEK FOR NEARLY A MONTH NOW.When I rang last week they said 5 more working days. Waited 6 and called. Chap said he would call clarion again, then he called me back to say they shipped it out on the 16th? He checked the shop, could not find it, called clarion back and they "found" it on the floor. Said they would ship it yesterday. Wait and see. Also my Autome head unit is still playing up, no reply's on this from the forum so I guess it is a uncommon one. Sometimes to change the radion band I have to turn the car off to reset the unit. Most times if i "touch" the band button at the extreme bottom of screen with the stylus where it meet the facia it will work. Further to that the reverse camera that came with the autome unit has water vapour in it and is now useless, can anyone point me to a reliable pluug on camera they have good experiance with? Auto barn want $70 for one and I think thats pretty steep as it is almost a 6th of the cost of the whole system. It is mounted in the bumper. TIA Steve.
  4. Seems not sorry, perhaps drop into an auto electrician.
  5. I seen a nice set up on a ford the other day it appeared to be around the lower half of the headlights but i was driving and he was going the other way. Could have been behind headlight protectors or inside but definatly not oem.
  6. Hi gang. As I have posted before onthe problems I have had with my 18 month or so old Autome head unit http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=25362&st=425 I reset the calibration on it and the screen now works fine on the gps. However, when I am on the radio screen the lower rhs "touch" buttons do not work and I am stuck in the am band. The mute and band touch screen buttons do not work. The similar position buttons in gps mode work fine so i think it may be a software issue. Any one else had/have this problem? Any ideas on a "fix". I also fitted a Clarion roof mount DVD player in the car for the kids when we drove from Sydney to Melbourne and it kept them well entertained. Came with infra red headphones and a remote and is also linked to the autome head unit. We had a prettu big heat wave here a while ago and the bloody thing started to rattle and drove me nuts as it si fitted where the interior dome light was. Then just under three weeks ago it fell down! Three of the four mounting points had broken, the plastic gave out. Had gone all brittle. Took it back to autobahn and they where shocked saying they had never heard of this happening before. The Clarion rep took it back with him that afternoon. They have opted to repair and not replace but the funny thing is that when i spoke to autobahn yesterday they said it should be back next week as Clarion decided to repair it. I asked what he meant by that as I already had been told that. He said that Clarion don't think it failed as it has never happened before. They made out that someone must have tried to pry it off the roof! I told the guys at autobahn that was bollucks as I am the only one who drives the car, and it has not been broken into. That and the fact that I was driving when the unit fell down. Got to not like Clarions attitude to rhier customers honesty ehh. Buyer beware.
  7. Sorry gang posted to the thread yesterday about the group buy head units yesterday and looking for a reply today. Canno locate thread. Tried search. Can anyone point me the way? TIA
  8. Buying no name Chinese things could be a gambling. +1 Yep a gamble but also most aftermarket "name" brands do not allow the use of the steering wheel controls. A mate just put a 1600 $ unit in his HSV ute and its nice but does nothing more and in fact les than my 400 $ unit. Hang around for digital radio version then rebuy me thinks. Merry Fatman you all!
  9. No its the Autome unit from China off ebay, similar to DJ's. The last of the non digital ones. Thank you.
  10. My touch screen is playing up again, last one replaced under warranty, would chop and change all by its own. Change songs on cds, maps on satnav and radio stations. Sent it back to Honkas at nearly $70.00 and waited 6 to 8 weeks for it's return. They said it tested okay but they replaced the screen anyway. Worked okay until recently, now it is hard to select some of the touch screen buttons, they will not work or you have to keep pressing and press hard. Also in GPS mode it often will not back out of screens for instance if I go into the POI screen, pressing the back button it makes the "click" sound but does not work. The only way to reset it is to turn the car off and back on. Pita. So anyone know what the go is with the head unit being to "tight" and upsetting the screens calibration due to "pressure" and how to fix it? I cannot live without this unit it sounds great and is so usefull. If I replace it with say the t-c200 unit http://www.autogps.com.au/Aurion_Camry_more.aspx that looks the same apart from graphics and will I have the same dramas? Any help appreciated. TTFN Spied
  11. Hi gang. Been a long time. Going through a divorce, losing Tarago keeping Camry. Some may remember me posting a long time ago about a really annoying "Thrumming" noise coming through the cabin at 60 to 80 Kph and worse in sweeping turns. I recently drove with the kids to Melbourne from Sydney and back. The little 2.4 is great on the open road and the kids had the new roof mounted DVD player to keep them entertained. By the time I got back to Sydney the noise was a lot worse and even causing the dash to vibrate. I had the car serviced prior to the trip and got the all clear but to be fair to the place that serviced it it was not that bad at that time. A mate had checked it out for me and as was also suggested on this forum, believed it to be the left wheel bearing. There was no play so he said save up and we can do it. Under the car, this being an ex Budget rental car with 95 K on it when it was given to me, so it has had a hard life, the subframe on the lhs is damaged and probably from a hard curb smacking so that probably caused the initial damage. Also the tyres I had put on only 12K ago are nearly toast, even though I had a wheel alignment. Not happy with that. Anyway, last week put the car in with John at APS in Richmond. 3 hours later, wow what a gem! This car is whisper silent and I am kicking myself for living nearly a year with that racket. They kept the outer race for me. It was cipped and pitted in a few areas the hardening well and truly gone. Only did the lhs and that popped me 300. Well worth it. Also had water in the boot around the jack and some in the spare wheel well. Stripped out the boot lining last weekend, climbed in with torch and had number one son hose the buggery out of the rear window, tail lights, wheel arches etc. Could see no water getting in. I just applied silicone to a few bits that looked suspect, checked the seal and drilled a hole into the low point of the panel where the jack goes. Will keep you posted if you like. Spied
  12. This is 400MHz , 64MB RAM old model. I have done a big research and this unit can not run TTS ( spoken street names ) and getting stuck after a while when you run the GPS. But good price and I think can get it for $300 on eBay Yeah I bought the Autome unit about a year ago and had to return it as the touch screen went weird. Started changing screens and songs, radio stations etc by itself. Cost me 70 aud to send back and two months without it. It was fixed but is now starting to play up again, the radio touch "button" and some others do not respond to my touch and it takes multiple attempts to get them to work and a heavy finger. The gps plays up to, if you go into some screens the "back" button will not work and you are stuck. So you have to turn the car off and on again to rreset it. The sound is great, much better than the stock head unit and I could not live without this system now. ANYONE HAVE A LINK TO THE australian unit being raved about in earlier posts please?
  13. I too am getting water in the rhs where the jack lives. I plan too take all the lining out of the boot, fold the seats down and have my son hose the car while I am inside the car with a torch. Mine is a 2006 build 2007 Altise. Let you all know how I get on.
  14. I seriously cannot believe you all want to pay this much for HID's... mine cost me ... drumroll please... $70 inc postage! and they are sitting at home, i took them out lol however, its whatever your instincts tell you, i had mine sent from china or asia somewhere... and took a chance, and i was quite happy with them, i only removed them, cause i found out they were BRIGHT AS F!!! :P Keep looking around, there are always other options available... (if anyone is interested, i can sell you my kit) Also, for those playing at home, HID's are illegal in Reflector headlights... but you already knew that XD Evo serious? dam.. almost got completely ripped off.. what about angel lights? are they a hell lot cheaper too? casue i was thinking about getting them from the guy.. Have a look with FAQ. I have seen a post about thier angel eyes with photos on this forum. I also posted today in Camry section about angel eyes off ebay. I have trouble searching in the new look forum though Spied
  15. Best Quate I got was $600.00 to remove and replace both sides of the bearings. Will not know if it is the cause of the noise until the car is in the shop. Have to save some sheckles. Will let you all know when it is done and if that fixed the problem. Spied
  16. Heres a link. http://tinyurl.com/ykurum5 I have mailed them with questions three times and never got a full answer. Anyone tried these? See my mail to mars below with thier responses. ------------------- Dear mars_performance, Thank you. Are they a straight plug in and does the CCFL stay on when car is on or only as a parking light type thing, does the parking light still operate I know some "angel eyes" use the parking light to power the eyes and so the parking lights no longer operate and last is the light australian design approved and not made for the United States in which case the spread cut off would be wrong for Australia, Could you please answer these four questions? Thank you. Steve ----------- Reply one: Hello; Thanks very much for contact us It use the CCFL instead the parker light Best Regards www.MarsPerformance.com -------------- My mail 2: Dear mars_performance, Could you please answer the other 3 questions? I will repost them below. The last pair just been sold today Best Regards www.MarsPerformance.com ------------ Very strange what they don't say and that the item has been relisted does not bode well, out of stock? Hmmmm I have also contactd the Sydney mob that I found here in the forum but have yet to get a reply. http://www.autojoy.com.au/contactus.htm Happy and safe Easter to you all. Spied
  17. Okay now just "duck out" and take photos of you removing your front bumper for me mate.... :D
  18. Yeah well mine is a Camry but have to admit the rattles in the dash are annoying. But the stereo makes it go away.... I have a rattle when I accelerate off at lights from the centre of the dash and a rattle - buzz from the area of the tweeter on the rhs of the dash. But mine would have been thrashed all its life as it was a budget rent a car with 95K on it. Economy is poor too for a 2.4 but a tune up may fix that. Sometimes on start up it fires seemingly on three cylinders for a second or two. Probably still has origenal plugs in it.
  19. Bloody hell. Bit much ain't it? Oh well thank you all. No, whats the best way to take off the bumper then? Hamfisted spider neds to know. Thanks gang. Sorry to waste your time. Did an FAQ and found it. http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...c=16527&hl= Thanks again
  20. Sorry to sound like a dummy. Is there any link to show me how to access the globes to swap them out? I can get to the high and low beams but the parkers are a differant kettle of fish. Thanks again gang.
  21. Thank you all. Will post more when it is sorted to let you know. TTFN
  22. Hi all. Just a question regarding anyone who may have had this issue. My Gen 6 late 2006 Altise had 95,000 on it when I got it in August last year. It is an ex Budget rental and shows some damage on the front subframe left hand side and left side skirt and left side at the base of the bumper. I had it alligned and it drives straight, no "feelable" free play in the wheel bearings. However at about 65 to 70 kph it starts to get a "druming" or "thrumming" sound in the cabin and it does spoil the driving experiance. Also when going around sweeping laft hand curves it is even more audible along with a "vibration" through the bottom of my right foot on the loud pedal. I have a mechenic mate pricing wheel bearins and fitting costs. He has driven it once about 4 months ago and said there was no danger in it. But the bubble and strife will not ride in it and I do like her! Like I said, I had the car alliagned and it does not have any tracking issues. No vibration at the steering wheel or shaking under brakes. Just hate to swap out the wheel bearings and find no change so picking your brains gang. Thank you all.
  23. Yeah mate. Keep us informed about what you find out. Looks outstanding! So not like yhe US units? Not sure what side of the road they drive on in China, prbably both. VBG! Otherwise any contacts for this guy in Sydney? Thats where I am. But love the look of the Chinese unit. TTFN :D
