  1. A bit off topic here but try Mr. Sheen when cleaning your rims. Its cheap and it leaves a nice shine and after wax feel on the rims too!
  2. And i got no cuts! well at least not from dynamat. i cut myself a couple of times pulling stuff door trims off and wiring.
  3. yea was going to get the roller for the back doors but ended up doing it spur of the moment last night. wasn't too hard anyway, i just used the handle end of a screw driver to mould it all in and when its all heated its pretty easy and it kind works better i guess because it covers all the cracks etc. either way the Job wasn't that fun anyway. i recken the best part was trying to blow my rear speakers (didn't work) and stabbing it and chiseling them out.
  4. Just an update, i've finished off all the Sound Deadning. took forever! Back doors are a little more complicated than the front doors. i wanted to keep the original door pods but they were fixed speakers at the back (the speakers could not be screwed out). Took advise from Suprathai and just cut the speakers out with a stanley knife and used the good old chisel and mallet to knock out the speaker that was fixed onto the pod. After about 12 hours of work (incl. a lot of procrastinating and ps frtin around) i have deadened the outer skin. Might get the deadning foam for the inner skin behind the speakers at a later stage when i get my stuff installed. Advice: *when using Dynamat, stick it ontop of your engine bay if its hot because it is 10x more user friendly, you can alternatively chuck it in the oven/grill. * Use MDF wood to cover up the service holes, it prevents from ripping the dynamat when trying to press onto the door. Pictures will be posted at a later date
  5. tell me about it! i got like two cuts that i had no idea about. after wagging work for the day and some hardcore blood sweat and tears with my friend. we finally finished the two front doors. i have taken photos however on a laptop with 56k modem! will load them up eventually. i have a new problem now with SD'ing the back doors. i cant seem to get the back speakers out. anyone can offer advise? i want to keep the same pod aswell because i bought 5.25" coaxils for the back too. cheers
  6. ooo good job i was there at the sale at toweraudio and thats where i got my stuff from. only bought the boot package as i didnt want to do such a huge job. you might be doing the same set up as mine! i got two pairs of MB quart premiums for front and back, havnt got my dek and amps yet tho.... stereos are expensive... can i ask how much they charged you for the install? i have removed everything from my doors at the moment and cut up and painted some mdf wood for the service holes. this project is going to take ages! will keep you guys updated tho
  7. Hi Suprathai, just wondering how much of that dynamat extreme you had to buy to cover the door like that. is it like that for all your doors? Just looking at the dynamat packs available. i was just going to go the Door kit that has 12 sq.ft. but just thinking that i would be using alot more to make it look like yours and buy the trunk kit that offers 20 sq.ft. can you also tell me how much you spent on it? thanks
  8. Hey great job buddy, have you got your speakers in there yet? if so how does it sound? alot of difference? and was it a real tricky job?
  9. sorry guys for putting two psots up, new to forums and don't know how to edit
  10. seesh looks like you are going all out. I was just thinking of going the 4 door set of Dynamat for around $130 (rough estimated price) The speaker sizes are 6.5 at the from and 5.25 at the back please let me know how you go because im planning to do it next weekend. a site that i stumbled across today may be helpful for you aswell. kind of rates all the sound deadening brands etc etc. Also can you throw up a few pictures too? http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/ thanks

  12. well just in the middle of purchasing my new sound system. So thought i may aswell sound deaden the doors as some people live by it. weight is not an issue for me. The main reason why i ask have people done it and their views on it is to see if it really is worth it. Sound deadning materials i am planning on getting is either Second Skin or Dynamat sheets and not too sure on the sound deadning foam as of yet. but still is early days, just wanted to see other people's opinions Cheers
  13. Hi Guys Just planning to Sound Deaden my doors and possibly my boot D.I.Y styles. Firstly putting on Dynamat and then spraying behind the rears of my speakers with the deadning foam. i know this is a massive labour intensive job. can i have views on peoples who have done it, would you get it done by pro's instead? Does it really make a difference? Also if any Corolla's have done it to their doors and boot can you please post up some pictures if you have taken any. Thanks
  14. hmm i second that, it would be alot more balanced if u had some deacent speakers to match the subby. i guess its just what the actuall driver prefers and the original speakers commin from the newer cars are alot more better these days. nice work with the boot tho
  15. Just a quick question about the Sills, is the plastic very hard? $70 is a deacent price for it but if someone were to step on the sill would it break?
  16. geeze, i'm trying to save for a holiday + my birthday now i have to save for this! Total recon will be very costly for this right? so you can still drive the car hard even if the gear crunches? i've been driving like a baby because i didn't wanna screw it even more. Spewing because i had a SSS wanting to drag at the lights last night.
  17. 1k? which mechanics did you go to? do you think just a local mechanic can do the same job or should i go visit a toyota specific mechanic?
  18. Cool thanks for the tip gotta read up on it. just a quicky. can the car still be driven for a while with the synchro screwed? like if i just drove 1st 2nd and 4th would it be fine for a few weeks?
  19. If i could have any input from people who have gone through this without warranty incl. prices and how long it takes would be very much appreciated. Cheers
  20. So fixing up the gear synchro really does cost that much? damn thats steep
  21. Hi there guys, Was driving like an idiot over the weekend and shifted from 2nd in to 3rd too fast and now my 3rd gear synchro is gone (crunches every time from 2nd to 3rd). To be able to shift into third without a crunch i would have to play games with my car and shift towards 5th and then direct it into 3rd otherwise it would be 2nd to 4th. Has anyone in Melb had this replaced when NOT under warranty? if so, how much did it cost (not sure i really want to know reading from previous post of an estimated 1.5k damage). and where can i take it. i would take it to my original mechanic but im not sure if he has dealt with corollas much and might take a bit of labour. can anybody help? Thanks
  22. im interested in 2 front slimline ones aswell, there has not been much reply about these weathershields, can someone tell me where i can get some? i originally bought mine from repco for $40 a side and they gave me two complete different shields and the one i like had stopped production. any input would be much appreciated thanks
