  1. I wonder if it your method would result in having the same speed as double clutching and landing lift in 2nd. i always get too excited and shift too quickly in to 2nd which makes its a slow change and when i do it properly i find that it takes a while to get into gear giving me a mini pause in acceleration. in saying that, i am probably just a crappy driver Any thoughts?
  2. haha looks like i am going to have to buy another bulk pack at some stage. shattering that i am back at uni now so money is a bit of an issue. all in good time tho. I have my sub inverted in a sealed box facing horizontal-wise in my boot. still not quite sure if i should do it or not would really like to hear someone's car who has actually done it but then again i'd need someone who has the same sub and amp combo + box size/enclosure etc etc so it would probably be a fat chance
  3. you gotta love the difference, i must admit i didn't do the inner skin of my doors. at that point of time i was way to confused as to which was inner and outer skin was. no skin off my nose tho, absolutely love it. just in regards SD the boot, does it make a lot more difference? i already done my diy boot so didnt really give much thought to doing it. and yes the weight is not an issue for me at all. its like having an extra little kid in your car and you can barely feel the difference
  4. Ok guys i know this topic is 10 gazzilion years old and i am sorry to bring this back up Just discovered the wonderful world of photobucket :P Drew up all the services holes using newspaper and texta. used 3m MDF wood primmed and sprayed to give it a waterproofing effect. Stripped the doors to bare metal and used a little bit of metho to get rid of all the left over sticky stuff Made a wall with duct tape behind the outer skin of the door. was able to stick the MDF wood ontop. Covered it with more duct tape to make it more waterproof. Stuck a square of Dynamat ontop of the existing plastic door pod. This was a little issue i had with the back door speakers. I wanted to keep the existing door pods but there was no way of screwing them off. Hammer and chisel job sounded the trick. (Thanks Suprathai for suggesting that if you remembered our convo) Aftermath of the chisel vs. rear speaker Just a photo of what i thought was the finished product but remembered i didn't finish off the bottom part of the door. Thanks for viewing. Finally have some closure with this topic
  5. putting in my back speakers was pretty messy. i ended up chiseling out my rear speakers coz i didn't have the right tools to get them out back speakers are 5 and a quarter inch. you'll need new speaker pods i reckon and also use daviboy's suggestion to remove doors, mine was a half assed job lol!
  6. back door trim should be easier than front door trim. from memory when i did mine, i wound the window down took off the rubber strip at the top, unscrewed about three nails (one in the door handle and two sitting underneath the armrest) and then it should just pop off. hope this helps
  7. i also heard that it was bad! and also not sure why. i had a temporary amp for my sub (1 week) and the car audio guys told me not to crank it up too loud because my amps were underpowering the sub and it can cause damage. i never questioned the guy why tho
  8. Hmm, so it looks like the synchros are shot, how long would this take to fix as this is my only car now and need it to get around? Thanks for all the replies BTW. yea its a bit painful mate, i suggest just taking it straight to the gearbox people. they tend to have cheaper prices if your financially challeged like myself :P i got quoted very big figures from toyota dealers. i remember a dealer told me i was looking at the 2k mark and i literally swore infront of the dealer (not at him of course) i got mine done in 2 days, parts were already available.
  9. yea i've been through this issue as well from driving around like a spastic. its an expensive lesson. it is most likely your gear synchros that have been worn out. there is a lot of labour involved in this process you will be looking at around the 1k mark to get it fixed. may aswell get your other synchros replaced while your at it. good luck with it
  10. my brother has this phone and i will soon get this phone too because of gps capability. what he did to fix the loud speaker ring is just take the battery out and put it back in. he's done it twice and both times it worked. dont know what the real cause of this is tho but give it a shot next time it rings very loud
  11. HomeHQ as in the one that has JB-hifi around there too? looks like a pretty good place for a photo shoot
  12. Sorry, bit of a random question here, but has anybody changed their exhaust piping to 2.5" and kept the stock sportivo muffler? is there a big sound difference? cheers
  13. They are more or less exactly the same thing, probably different plastic surrounding it. as for second hand speakers, there should be no problem with them, the upside to it is you don't have to break them in, and re-tune and re-tune like a new set. good luck on your purchase
  14. You gotta love those little corsa's i've personally owned one myself i wonder how this dude gets traction
  15. harsh reality isn't it? i guess cooper leans more towards a fashion car than a sport car, althought their handling is beautiful. no offence to any corolla owners but if i had the cash, i would choose mini over a corolla, but then again there is a pretty massive price difference between the two.
  16. Hmm i rekkon it'll be a pretty fair challenge mate, my sister own's an S and i give it a lil hoon every now and then and that thing is a little rocket if you can drive it properly. my sister's mini is made for track and is pretty much stock apart from all suspension work and upgraded brakes. i think the chilli is a little more powerful but basically just has all the options where optional for S. have always wanted to see it against a sportivo to see how it does. you will need a perfect 1-2 gear change for this.
  17. Thats exactly what i thought! maybe they taking photos @ the carwash?
  18. just a quick note, carwash after mountain aint reallyt advisable, hot brakes and water dont mix well at all. they make your rotors warped just me 2 cents :)
  19. Yes, it's me Andrew. What do you reckon of the sound deadening job? thought so! was reading your posts and saw the car, thought it had to be you. looks like a nice job buddy, will be looking forward to listening to those speakers with deadning when they've broken in
  20. Well 2zzrolla arn't you driving the same car as me?
  21. Maybe one day i will get one if crown decides to be nice :)
  22. Im in Melb and i got my windows done with illegal tints, forgot how many percentage it was, is roughly 15% or something around that on all 5 windows. It is pretty hard reversing into driveways etc because there isn't that much vision at night. most of the time i would have to wind down my windows to see. if you are after very dark tints, i can refer you to who i got it done from. i got mates rates off the guy because my brother is friends with the shop next door. i have not had a problem with them since and will not hesitate to refer him to others. I will most likely not be able to get the same price as what i paid, but im pretty sure he will beat other quotes and look after you if i give them the heads up. Just shoot me a PM if you want details and ill chase it up with my brother. Another good place to go to if you are on the east side is Premier Tint in Nunawading, somewhere along Whitehorse Road. my previous car and my whole family have gone through them and there are no run marks etc etc.
