I've just brought a 2nd Hand Smart Key for my Aurion Presara,

It’s exactly the same as my other two keys. I believe it’s from a wrecked Aurion.

Does any one know how to

1. Wipe the memory of the 2nd Hand key. (If necessary that is)

2. Assign this new key to the car so I have three Smart keys?

Any Help would be appreciated.

I think it also links wih a metal key. Contact Toyota dealer, they can do it for you

..... Also I have an internal rattle in the left rear passenger corner. Possibly leads going to the rear demister or antenna. Anyone else had these problems?

I think the biggest factor affecting our fuel economy has got to be where we live. It is suburban Sydney and my wife has to drive about 6 suburbs down. So truly city driving with no freeways to stretch the car's legs.

I do feel that the info about he car having to wear in is a bit wrong given that you've had such great fuel economy from the beginning. By the way the 1000km service is just an inspection. They don't change anything including the oil.

I'll have to find some time to take the car into the dealership.

My wife drives her car with her foot on the break pedal most of the time and on many short trips, she can only manage 12.2l/100km (best) for her 2l BMW which I used to drive everyday and never got over 9.2l/100km.

My Presara first service was at around 1,600k mark and they did a good job - including oil change, car wash & vaccum ..... The only thing they did not do: I asked them to disconnect the back centre stop light but they did not do because they did not see it (my wife covered it with a black material - their service card says: "Already disconnected") I will ask them do again next time because I don't need 2 centre stop lights at the back (one is with the spoiler).

I don't understand what you're saying Blinky? Are you saying that when you which from drive to sports modes that it automatically shifts into fourth?

Personally I never go from drive into sport, so I really have no complaint there.

Otherwise i think it works fine my gears hold till red line, they will even bounce the rev meter if i don't shift up in time.

I know it will hold gears.

The Aurion's manual mode works just like an old auto with the L, 2, 3, D etc.

In 1, it will only use 1st

In 2, it will use 1st and 2nd,

in 3, it will use 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

etc

In other semi automatics (I've only driven the mazda 6 auto), if you choose 3, it will only be in 3rd. When you slow down to a traffic light in 3, and leave it there, you'll be pulling off in 3rd. The Aurion will automatically choose 1st, 2nd and 3rd for you as you go up from the traffic light.

I think Blinky is talking about Sport mode, not Mnual mode - In Manual mode you can change gears a lot faster than the old L, 2, 3 , D .... In sport mode, it works like normal Auto except it changes gears at higher rev.

Bear in mind that the advertised fuel economy is 9.9L per 100km.

The above number is from AS which means the test ran on a very ideal condition. Normally we have to add 10 - 15% on the top of their numbers. Yours is over 16l/100, a bit too high

I have posted few numbers of my Presara, (just over 10,000 this week) using 4 types of petrol and average about 30km/h most of the time (home to work & back). I get around 10.7l/100km. Moving to the CBD, I have to ride public transport from this week that means a lot weekends running around to cover 25,000k/year.

Thanks fo the info - definitely "heat" problem - I drove the car from work back home (it's Friday) the light was red but after running air cond for 30mins or so, it changed back to green.

i've got my 15000km aurion service coming up in a couple of weeks... so what kind of work should they be doing?

A bit confusion - the book says 7500 and 15000 - my sticker (after the first free service) says 10000 and my fleet manager also say 10000. Anyway I will book mine for 10000 to see the "real world".

But hey they are salespeople they are supposed to be... As long you go into a dealership with a strong mind or bring someone with a strong mind, plus haggling skills then thats ok.

If you want customer service check out the premium services that BMW, Mercedes etc can provide... obviously it comes with a cost.

No way I could get less than 10 with my Presara as shown, I give up now:

My daily 33 km from home to work in the morning, around 55 mins to 1 hour. Same route on the way back takes longer, best time 1 hour 13 minites. Other trips: shopping trips on weekends and few long trips as mentioned above and 2 trips to Ballarat.

I may run with V_Power from now on. I'm happy with 10-11 with rating for Aurion is 9.9.

u got a dude in ps thinking their pro, whilst a sorry case of minority - a toyota lemon!

i have been driving & own toyotas all my life (sad i know) and usually i would classify them as a lemon when they are 300,000kms or above. european cars may be more "reliable" and perhaps retain a better residual value, but we're talking about the exy euros like bmw and merc - most of them are thirsty anyway! ...

Totally agree - as mentioned elsewhere in this forum and even in this thread. My current Presara is not perfect but I've made my choice over other cars including Peugeot, VW, BMW and Merc. I am still owing a BMW but just to please my wife. Please don't tell me "Euro" cars are more "reliable".

I own a 07 ZR6 and i realised that sometimes when i drive over small bumps etc on the road, the front passenger seat rattles abit.

kinda sounds like the seat isnt bolted on tightly.

anyone expericing the same problem?

I've got this sometimes but actually the seat belt, not the seat - I just pull the seat belt lock up and ok.

My Aurion Presara comes with 1 set of HID headlights but because the auxillary headlights are not HID, and the beams looks yellow (instead of white in colour). I am not a D-I-Y type of guy. Appreciate advise (on cost)/ recommendations for a reliable workshop in Sydney to help me install full HID headlights. Thanks!

I believe we have discussed this - From my memory: No point to have HID on the high beam because HID takes time to get full "power" which is no good, the life would be very short.

Another thing, Leasing companies do not get you the best deal as most of them have arrangements with specific dealers and they tend to go straight to that dealer rather than properly shop around as they should. On top of that, most fleet companies add their own margin on top of the price given to them by the dealer. So if you do work for a fleet registered comapny, make sure you go out and make grab a few quotes and compare them against the ones from your leasing company.

(B) After 45 months, the engine failed (2 nights slept away from home),

I thought i would vent my frustration about all the problems i have had with my Aurion since i bought it new just 2 months ago..

3) I took it to the dealer and was told No Fault Found, here we go again i thought. I had all the paint rectification completed and it still wasn't satisfactory.

5) I called past the dealer and took the foreman for a ride and he heard the creaking and cracking from the dash and soon picked up something is wrong. We booked it in yet again.

6) Left it with the dealer and after 3 days the dash had been pulled out, modifications made and was told a clip wasn't even in place under the dash.

I believe this is a common problem with all Aurions - My Presara has same noise but only sometimes - Many owners in this forum say the same thing and the dealer keeps saying can't hear it - This may be true because they may test my car only a short distance. My old Toyotas (still keep one) have not had any problem.

For normal customers, get the above number + GST + 2,000/2,500. (Quote thru work normally w/o GST, if GST included in the quote your mum will get it less than 30K).

Talk this way - My car is a leased car (salary sacrified). Shell card allows me to buy petrol, oil from any Shell services station (not other companies) in the country. They check the card and the car any time I fill up (it is illigal to use card for other car).

I appreciate your thoughts, but as a licensed machanic (no longer on the tools) I'm 100% certain there's nothing the matter with the battery especially given that the car is only 7 months old with 5,000km on the clock.

It started just fine this morning, however the 5 discrete beeps are still there... :(

Left hand site speaker (rear): I think something to do with Toyota Link - It should have backup battery but check with them, you may have to re-activate this facility.

i found that driving around the city, the fuel type doesnt make that much difference.

Probably that is my case - I have to use 100% Shell Optimax/V-Power for my other car, nothing I can get out from that.
