  1. I believe it's not a good idea to have HID kits on high beam and fog lights. ....

Sorry for jumping to this discussion but talking about fog lights - Just read few days ago: In Victoria, you can not turn the fog lights on if no fog - I rearely turn my fog lights on but that why I'm worying about because I may forget turn they off.

  2. The website is www.toyotalink.com.au, you will need an email address and password. No manual is provided for the website, but it is pretty straight forward and easy to use.

    Thanks,

I've got no idea how this works:

At the beginning I thought each time filling up the fuel tank, but actually not.

  3. ..

May not be for everyone, but I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to gadgets and pushing buttons :P which is why I got the Presara in the first place!

Thanks - I used once just for registration and they call me once - I now have to find out where is my logon & password otherwise call them to get new one. By the way, all my manuals disappeared after my first service, Toyota only gave me a manual for the GPS/NAV system. Again, many thanks.

  4. Hi all,

We are planning to have .... "summer" holidays in Tasmania in 4 weeks time. We need to bring our car with us to get some K for it and my car can only use Shell. I've spent nearly 1 hour to search www.shell.com.au and Coles Express but can not get a full list of Shell service stations in Tasmania.

Please help - We will stay in Hobart and Launceston but will drive around a lot.

    Thanks

  5. All depends on what you want out of car ... If your more concerned about running costs then might I suggest the Prius ... not quite my cup of tea .... my avatar is what I prefer. Happy hunting .... hope u find a happy medium

I think not for the Prius, you have to run many many many years to get break even - save the planet, yes; but save money on petrol, no

  6. .... new freeway-eastlink added in for Victoria?

Yes - I believe so - One interesting: same version 14 but Garman and few others can show speed cameras, redlights .... but Toyota not. A friend of mine told me: data is there but the software from Toyota (or its contractor) is dumb.

  7. I just got my car yesterday and I will empty the tank first and refuel it with Vortex 98 probably as V-Power is out of stock now.

    .....

But I love the car !!

We have posted many comments (including my numbers) in this thread: http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/inde...showtopic=14292

I have not updated my worksheet from early this year because I have to use public transport to go to work now. Only short trips from home to railway station & back daily, I think my car consumes more petrol now.

  8. Mine works in tunnels, the only issue I've had is when the car has been in the sun on extremly hot days, the red light comes on.

    Cheers

Thanks and yes, few posts - including mine - in this forum have mentioned this -

  9. Here's one for all subscribing to Toyota link..Can the Toyota link search find your car if garaged or under cover??.......

    1. Toyota asked me to go outside to talk with them - could be they need a clear "picture".

    2. The light is "green" when in my garage that means they still can find my car - under cover

    3. I have not checked the light when travelling under/inside a tunnel - will check one day (next few weeks during my trip to Tullamarine airport), if I could remember.

    Cheers,

  10. ......

Portable sounds good unless you live in Sydney and that translates to stealable. it becomes a pain taking them witrh you everywhere you park the car that might eb a bit ddodgy.

I bought a portable one for my missus, it's very nice, clear and has a lot more functions - I can upgrade within one year (stll 8 months to go) w/o paying anything. Just getting new map and speedcam upto the end of Jan2008 last week. It can tell more precisely the turning point (example: Turn right and then second left on xxxxxxx road ...). Even it has 4.3" screen but still too small.

  11. Hokeydokes here's a query??, if one hasnt yet purchased or icke dup their new presara and he knows the disk in the nav system is a version 13 canhe demand a version 14???...

Or is it a case of you get what comes with the vehicle..

Secondly i would have thought it unsafe to sell a product which has raods missing in its software??..

    Cheers

    1. You better check with the dealer - A friend of mine asked a Toyota dealer to put new map and he's got a new map (ordering just before Xmas 2007, getting his car last month).

    2. I don't think that way, the software is always out of date and no way they can update the map at the last minute - even Melway or Sydway ..... they can only have 1 edition a year. The only thing I'd like to see: like any software, Toyota gives users a cheaper upgrade (similar XP to Vista) or even free within one year. I've mentioned in this forum: I bought a Mio C520 for my wife as a Christmas present and last weekend I could upgrade it to new map (to Jan 2008) and new SpeedCam at no cost. I still have 8 months membership which allows me to upgrade firmware, map ..... again, no charge.

  12. Been reading around different forums and getting conflicting opinions about which fuel to use. Some say they get power boost from 98 octane fuel that is noticeable as well as better mileage (e.g. 500km vs 650km per tank). ...

    petrol.gif

My calculations use the following “factors”

    1. Average petrol prices $1.5/l for UPULP and $1.4/l for normal ULP

    2. On average, people fill up the tank after using 55l

    3. Best highway run is around 7.8 l/100k and most people run between 9.9 (AS something from Toyota) and 11.2l/100k.

We can see the price of PULP is around 7% more expensive than the price of normal ULP that means if we could achieve around 35-50 km more each tank we are better off. Actually no one or very small number of our normal drivers can get more than 30km. If from 500km to 650km for each tank when switching from ULP to PULP is true then we can laugh to the bank.

My dam Presara now can only “drink” PULP. I don’t know why but it will “cough” if I used normal ULP. I told my wife: “It is now PULP addicted”. By the way, I can only use Shell.

I know someone said he could get a lot more using top rate 100% - I think no such thing 100% for normal service stations.
