  1. ..

You could hire the Presara and swap the map dvd. If the place has a high turnover rate of renters, they might not event know who it was who swapped out the dvd. :P

What if you were getting the car with the one I put in ? :toast:

By the way, Toyota maps are not really good, my wife's much cheaper Mio can tell me turn at "the second left", not "then turn left" which was a wrong turn.

  2. I have posted my first 5,000 kms elsewhere using Shell (no choice), most of the time using 98RON. Now my car ODO is over 42,500kms and last month I travelled long distance a lot - my best reading: 6.6l/100kms I took a photo on my phone but no cable to transfer to a PC, normally around 7.1 to 7.7l/100kms with air-cond. I will post my last month usage later.

  3. Gents,

Many thanks - my wife is still not happy about this (coming out from the blue after nearly 2 years) - I will ask the dealer when/at my next car service.

Updated 5 mins later: Just checking my nearly 10yrs old Vienta Grande, the passenger's seat can move up and down

  4. After having the car for nearly 2 years, yesterday my wife asked me how to raise her seat (passenger seat) up. I did try few buttons and the seat could not go higher. It looked like the longest button does not do anything. I don't know where is my manual. Is that normal and how to raise the passenger seat higher (electric seat) ?

    Thanks,

  5. Last Wednesday (14-Jan), on the way home from work, I used the map to guide me from Tullamarine to Digital Camera Warehouse (367 High St, Northcote VIC 3070) using no toll option. The map guided me around Tullamarine Freeway, exit then from Arthurton Road to Hight street and left turn at the intersecton. After that, it told me to go further and "Your destination at the right hand side, the route guidance now finish..." (with full destination address on the screen). It turned out another side of the road are all even numbers and they are all over 500. I had to make an U turn and get to the right address as shown in the following map.

    My car: Silver Presara

  6. dont know if this is right but i always had the impression that when the fuel light comes on u get bout 20km out of it on normal day driving. ....

All my current cars (1 BMW 318i, 1 Vienta Grande, 1 Honda CR-V Sport and 1 Presara) have roughtly 100-130 kms to go after getting the light.

  7. Hi all,

After more than 1 year driving "this" car, I'd like to have it tinted. It's a silver (just silver, not athother silver) Presara. The manuals say I can't use metallic tint for rear window because this will effect the perfomance of the Link system. Please help, let me know any good non-metallic tint out there can do the job for around $400 (whole car). I'm living around SE area of Melbourne.

  8. ....

I get ~13.5L/100km driving within suburbs

(posted 6 or so calculations previously, will post another batch later on)

    not much traffic

but with 90 degree turns and traffic lights...

Around this time last year I posted the result after 6 months or so. I will put all dockets to Excel file and post more info after my holidays (I keep all dockets with odo reading because I have to supply the reading when purchasing petrol).

  9. Have been driving 2 Madaz's (808 and 929, both 2nd), 2 Commodore's (new VK & VS), 1 Honda (new, CRV Sport), 2 Camry Vienta's (new, V6 top of the line) 1 BMW (new, top 318i), still own the Honda, one Vienta, the BMW. My current Aurion Presara with few more options is probably my last car before my retirement. I decided to buy the Aurion Presara because all my experiences with 2 Vienta's. You know what I mean. I have posted many times my experiences with a European car, probably just bad luck (!?).

  10. Sorry, I can not find a thread rather than creating a new one, I use this one:

Does anyone know how to delete/clear an address in Memory ? Don't know why my system has many addresses in its memory which actually my neighbour address (many but same). Thanks.

  11. My Presara is one year old this week with 22,500 kms on its ODO - I have posted my usage for the first 5 months (can't find the post): average 10.2l/100 using V_Power from home to work and shopping on weekends. For the last 7 months, I've been using it only from home to a railway station (that means all short trips) and going out on weekends (normally around 250 kms each trip). My average now is 10.8l/100.

I believe this is very normal, no one can run close to the factory's number which is AS using controlled test environment. Note: I did test petrol type for the first few tanks, and now only use V_Power.

  12. .... An alternative might be police rd, but forget it if it's busy. ..

I did not know until going thru under the Monash Fwy. I did not check "the gate" but exit to Police Rd may save few cents (petrol and a toll (?)). By the way, my eTag "beep" all the way, hope they won't send me a bill for travelling on the opening day (well free for 4 weeks).

  13. This morning, I went to the Melbourne airport to pick up a friend. Rather going normal way I used Monash Fwy - Easlink - Eastern Fwy - Bell street & Tullamarine Fwy route. On the way home, I used Tullamarine - Bell - Eastern Fwy - East Link and went to the Frankston end of this new road. I made an U-turn at Stud road, back to Franskton Fwy - to East link with intending to go back to the Monash Fwy - But no exit from Easlink to Monash Fwy (to turn right). I don't know why this very big intersection has missed this turn - I had to make an U-turn at Wellington Road to be able to get back to the Monash Fwy. Today is free but you need to prepare to pay for this NO EXIT.

  14. aud350 for an update.. this is scary.. any idea if the 14 edition has the new freeway-eastlink added in for Victoria?

It does not know the car position within Melba & Mullum Mullum tunnels - Ok with other tunnels in Victoria and NSW (don't know other states).

  15. .. O95 Octane Premium (real fuel) does give a little better consumption, but for 8 cents cheaper a litre, I'll keep running the E10. I know may will never agree. I would prefer to run Premium all the time too.

You are saying running O95 or Premium would get better but how much better? From my calculations we only need around 28kms more for every tank then we are better off. Can we get more than 28k per tank (each fill: 60 litres)?. I've got a table in another thread which shows no, we can not get more than 28kms per tank with Premium (in my case Shell V_Power) otherwise I will laugh all the way to the bank. I'm using V_Power for my Presara now, with other reason, not for saving.

  16. ...

The document only mentions "The driver of a vehicle fitted with a rear fog light must not operate the fog light unless the driver is driving in fog or

other hazardous weather conditions causing reduced visibility." ....

Nop, Look at this link: VIC ROAD - Which says: Minister for Roads and Ports, Tim Pallas, said that using front fog lights in any other conditions apart from hazardous weather conditions was now prohibited.
