  1. Very nice. I have the same clour except mine is the CV. How much did the front deluxe nudge bar cost?
  2. Hi Have a 2008 RAV4 CV 2.4. It's slightly bigger engine but my fuel economy is not the best. So far the best petrol for milage I found is Caltex Vortex 98. I get about, anywhere from 8km per litre to 8.5km per litre in city driving alone. Mine is an auto, so to get these kinds of milage, I have to be really light footed allowing the gears to change at 2000rpm and mostly drive at 1500rpm. Can be pretty frustrating but you get used to it. Initially when I got it, I revved it so that the gears would change at 3000 or 3500 rpm but then the fuel econmy was like 6km per litre in the city which is ridiculous.
  3. Yeah don't worry if you have lost the card. I did my 10,000 km service yesterday and I don't even remember if I even got given a card. I also did the service at a different dealership to the where I bought the RAV4. I bought it in Oct 2008 and it's in their system and they automaticaly know which service plan your car is on...cost me $150...Sweet!! ;)
  4. Hi guys, I was just wondering if people would be interested in a 4WD training course for soft roaders. It cost $250 per vehicle. See the link below: http://www.eureka4wd.com.au/content/view/22/75/ :D
  5. Hey guys, just waiting at City Toyota in Perth waiting for my Rav to get its 10,000km service done. They have an internet facility which is great and passes the time. As for the new Kluger, I love the shape and styling...even though it's me and my mrs, and there will be no kids in the near future, I'd love a Kluger AWD(even though we'd never use it's 7 seats). Its called the Highlander in the US and has been around. The Rav is great as well and very practical. I traded my Corolla Sportivo for it...even though I miss my Sportivo as hell..the performance...the 6 speed manual transmission...oh well...but the Rav is definitly more practical as I want to travel more and it's great on the beaches and sand dune. But everytime I see a Kluger, I just love it's styling and the AWD was out of my price range. But for now the Rav is a long time keeper...I'll buy a Civic Type R or a Golf GTI for my sporting needs sometimes next year (when my mrs calms down as I have bought 4 brand new cars over the past 2.5 years and ended traded them in after 6 months for something else ha ha)...come to think of it, its been 6 months with the Rav...but I'll restrain this time...to much fun on the sand. And for sure, it's good to see some conversation happening here...we should try and organise a soft-roader Off-Road day out. Eureka do them and I think it cost $250 a day. Check this link out: http://www.eureka4wd.com.au/content/view/22/75/ It would be fun to have a day out with the Rav and Kluger lovers!
  6. I have a 2008 2.4 CV Auto and I don't have any delays in the initial start ups. I can have little wheels spins as well. I only problem that i can mention is maybe the Auto box sometimes hesitates when you put your put to the floor. But nothing major as it does down shift in an acceptable time frame.
  7. I know what you mean. I have a 2008 CV and was thinking of getting roof rails like they have on the Cruiser Models. I did come across a seller on eBay a couple of months back but never purchased them. I had a look now again, but it does not seeem to be there.
  8. Good to see thatits up and running...keep us posted on its usefulness!!!!
  9. Good stuff. Keep us posted on how you go once your brother in law gets his. Tell us if it is any good and then I might get one. The other thing I was also thinking about was the palcement of the product. Do not want to place it in front of the dash as I quite like the look of the dash and the only other place I can think of is in the centre conolse in front of the gear knob. But this might be too low. Once you have experimented with yours, it'll be nice if you couls also put up some pictures on where you placed it. Thanks mate
  10. Hey guys, Just a quick question? Does anyone have the ScanGauge II installed in their current model Rav's. I have a 2008 2.4 CV and am thinking of getting one. Here is the link below: http://www.scangauge.com.au/buy/index.shtml As the Rav4 does not have a trip computer, I'm thinking of getting the ScanGauge as I'd like to monitor my fuel consumption a bit more. The CR-V comes with a trip computer and the Rav doesn't. If anyone has this installed please let me know as the the Dealership was not very helpful and I called the ScanGauge people and they said that it works for the 2006 but they arer not sure of the 2008. From my understanding, the model's did not really change during that time. On their website it also says that it works on Rav's 2006 onwards but whrn I called them, they could not gaurantee this.
  11. Yeah the rear plastic on the bumper is awesome and so very practical. Did you get that from your Toyota Dealer?
  12. hey guys, I have a 2008 2.4 CV and it has 9000km on the clock is soon to go in for the 10,000km service. Initially, in mostly city driving I got about 350-60km before the fuel warning light came on. The best so far that I have gotten in highwat driving is about 520km before the warning light comes on. I'm pretty happy with that, as there is still about 8-10 litres in the tank when the fuel low waring light comes on. But that's the best I've gotten. But initially when I was getting 350km, I was pretty dissapointed. But as the KM's are going up, it seems the fuel consumption is getting better. I have never used 91 RON on it. Initially was using BP Ultimate 98, tried 95 RON as well, but I find that I get the best fuel range from using Caltex's Vortex 98. But as Nerdygirl mentioned earlier, you have to be really light footed with this car if you want to get any sort of decent fuel range. In the auto it means tapping the pedal which allows for gear changes around 2000 rpm. But that is so frustrating though. I have always been really heavy footed and this is my first SUV. But if I let gear cahnges happen at 3000rpm (which should be normal), it just guzzles fuel like anything. Mostly I think I am getting better fuel range because I have adapted to a more of a granma style driving with the RAV. But saying that, the RAV also has a lot of up sides, I just wish it had better fuel econmy with normal driving without having to drive I'm 89 years old.
  13. Yeah I got my with the car as well. And I only got mine a few months ago. From my understanding all RAV4's are fully imported from Japan. You should ask your dealer.
  14. Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone has more news on the recent Yaris recalls? I have a 2007 and contacted the dealer and they told me that Toyota will contact me if there are any issues with my particular vehicle. The recall has to do with sort of an insulation that could ignite in the event of a collision and is activated by seat belt pre-tensioner. This is what I read, but I have heard from others that there is something wrong with the exhaust as well. If anyone has anymore info or heard from Toyota please post your info. Thanks
  15. For sure...went down to albany and on the way back filled it up with vortex 98 and its done just over 400km and its sitting on exactly half a tank!
  16. Hi All, I have a Yaris 1.3 YR have done a bit of highway driving. I agree with most people on the fuel economy. Absolutely amazing. The Yaris is happy to cruise at 130 km/h easy. I've clocked the car and the speed gets stuck with the reading jumping between 174 & 175 km/h. So that's that for the 1.3, doesn't go any faster than that. I found that the car does cruise comfortably at 130 and even 140...and I guess that's all you really need.
  17. Hi, Just bought a brand new RAV4 2.4 auto CV a few weeks back. Its done about 1300km so far. I'm pretty surprised at the fuel economy though and not in a good way. I drive all my cars on BP Ultimate, so the RAV get the same treatment. But I'm averaging about 14-15L/100km in the city. I've taken it for a couple of long drives, but didn't really notice much of an improvement. Saying that, I'm also a bit heavy footed. Other than the fuel issue, its my first compact SUV and I'm quite happy with it. Must say it does pretty well in the sands as I took it to the sand dunes the second day I had it! Quite fun actually. I was wondering if there is anyone that is getting the same sort of average using premium fuel?
  18. I bought a Yaris 1.3 YR few months back. It was bought because my girlfriend is learning how to drive and we decided its best to to go for a little city car. I haven't had any complaints when it comes to the fuel econmy. I'm still amazed at how good it is. Both my cars, a 05 Corolla Sportivo & the Yaris are run on BP Ultimate. I use the Yaris to drive to work and back the whole week, and in the weekend my girlfriend learns to drive in it. So far from on a full tank of petrol the best I've done is just over 600KM and it regularly returns 500km on a full tank. Remember this included a learner driver over revving it and all those sorts of things. I suggest if you Yaris is not being as fuel efficient as you like, try running it on Ultimate for a month and see what happens.
  19. I don't think at 11,000 km, it'd need topping up unless there is something wrong with your cooling system, which I doubt.
  20. Hey guys, I also wanted to say a big thanks to everyone...it was a really fun day and am looking forward to the next meet already. It was good to meet all of you. And the pictures are great as well.
