  1. I need to figure out when i can get some time to do a full detail on her, wash, polish and clean out and vacuum the interior :o

i haven't done it for soooo long lol :o

    Evo

Wait till you get it back from the supercharger install.

    Looking good Evan!!

  2. Ipod Aux input cable - P/N: IP002 $$77 Incl

There are genuine iPod adapters for the factory head unit? Is it just a 3.5mm jack or is it iPod specific? How is fitment done? (sorry, had no idea!)

They have a 3.5mm jack and charger lead that goes to a dock connector. There is also a 3.5mm female jack to RCA plug adaptor in the kit.

  3. Continued on from previous post

I understand the TRD suffers from herrondous torque steer without traction control and even with it but if you keep a slow in fast out sort of line it can be a wonderful car.
I hear the TRD is pretty crazy for torque steer...

I again agree with what Daryl said. I had a supercharged V6 Camry before the TRD so was used to having torque steer.

I wasn't looking to play with the ECU settings, i was lookig more at the idea of connecting a netbook to it, and using it to substitute extra gauges, in the event that i ever wanted to modify the engine.

How invasive is the TRD Aurion's traction control? Is it actually a benefit for acceleration, or is it still no match for a disciplined right foot?

It does cut in under hard acceleration but is not overly annoying and is handy in the wet. I do find that I can drive the TRD hard without its intervention if driven with a "disciplined right foot".

  4. How much boost does the TRD Aurion's charger produce?

I have been told by a TRD tech that it is 7-8psi. They use the latest TVS Eaton 4 lobe supercharger which greatly reduces the air intake temp as they are more efficient, this also negated the need for an intercooler.

Are there many dfferences (besides the charger) between the N/A Aurion and the TRD Aurion's engines? I noticed they run the same compression ratio's. Do they use different ECU's? Injectors? etc

As Daryl has said ECU with a different tune, larger injectors, different VVTi oil line and extra pulleys. Auto transmission gets an extra oil cooler.

Do the newer Toyota ECU's have any computer connectivity for consult software?

Under normal daily commuting, how often do the front tyres need replacing?

I did get 45,000km out of my original set of Dunlop tyres and I do drive the TRD as it is intended to be.

In the short period that the TRD Aurion has existed, has it shown any trends with certain things breaking frequently?

The 3500S starts life as a Sportivo SX6 and the 3500SL as a Sportivo ZR6. The Aurion does suffer from dash board rattles. The pulling left issue doesnt appear to affect the TRD as they get a more comprehensive wheel alignment and setup.

Does the interior only come in those 2 colors, red and redder?

There may be some of the very last 3500S made with a grey interior, but it would be very rare if they were made. White, Tungsten and Inferno were given the grey interior just before TRD was canned but at this stage it was the TRD was build to order only.

I have read reviews that the TRD Aurion is not a nice car to drive, it's a little boring.

Definitely needs a larger rear sway bar which I have installed as well as a front strut brace. Changes the car quite a lot improves turn in dramatically and removes the rear body roll. It is a large automatic car that weighs 1600kg so is more a GT style of vehicle rather than a track day machine.

I want to see how the front wheels handle such excessive power.

The N/A Aurion is almost or as fast in a drag race so it does have issue with putting power down. I gear/rolling acceleration is just unreal though :D

  5. Hi guys, recently I've been pretty keen for heading to the track with my stivo,

I've raced go karts since I was 8 and its been atleast 10years since I've stopped so id love to go with my car now!

Only problem is its stock and I've got no information on sydney tracks etc.

I know it will be fun but would it be worth while getting some new wheels and new tyres for track use?

If anyone could pm me some helpful information that would be great.

Good luck on the track event, I wish we had more events/meets down here!

  6. hey looking at sc my sportivo soon, any1 no of a place to buy a kit?

or has any1 had them custom made here in oz?

cheers oh and also a computer for a 2zz cheers

I'd HIGHLY recommend to wait until E85 fuel is widely available. U reeeeally won't see much gain from a supercharger on a 2ZZ with only 98RON fuel. the 11.5:1 cr is too high and the supercharger becomes a restriction in the high revs where the 2ZZ is meant to shine.

A free flowing turbo like a Garrett GT2860RS with the .86 exhaust housing would be a much better option as modern turbos are much more efficient than superchargers so less heat generated and much friendlier and safer on the engine.

Oil cooler, upgraded radiator and removal of air con for better airflow to the radiator are pretty much a must if U want reliability.

U'll obviously need all the other supporting mods like exhaust, intake, injectors, LSD and ECU.

If u want more power than a sportivo, might be a good option to consider another car which would end up costing a lot less, having better resale value and handling much better.

Lotus dont seem to have to much problem getting more power out of the 2zz with a supercharger in the Elise SC (163kW & 212Nm) Exige S (164kW & 215Nm) and Exige Cup 260 (192kW & 236Nm). Even though the kW increase is not huge the torque increase is very reasonable and will help the Corolla get along very well indeed.

TRD in the US still list a supercharger for the Corolla but Im unsure if it is for a 1zz or 2zz. Double checked and was for 1zz and is not listed in current catalogue

Blitz made one for the 2zz by the looks of it.

Also even when E85 is readily available the fuel system in the Corolla will not be compatible as Toyota and many other manufacturers only recommend E10 in current vehicles.

  7. Does this problem could occur due to rims of 20s? Would the Toyota fix it If they reasoned it's because of it?

The ABS system does know if you have 16 inch wheels or 22 inch wheels, it just senses whether the wheels are rotating or not and does what it needs to do modulate the brake pressure to keep the rotating.

  8. I agree with what the others have said. I had to do an emergency stop just last week and the ABS on the Aurion in this type of situation sounds very different to what the ABS in my old gen 4 Camry does. It is also something that is very hard to replicate as our cars also have 'Brake Assist' which will apply the brakes harder depending on how much pressure and how quickly it was applied to the brake pedal.
