  1. I recieved my quote for 90,000km service including the spark plug replacement, the quote does not have a charge for Plenum Chamber gasket. Does that mean at Toyota Dealerships they don't take off the Chamber to get to the rear plugs or they do it but don't need to replace gasket?
  2. I found the best way was to set up a light going through the rear seat armrest hole into boot, I was able to watch water coming in without openeing the boot lid. I also pulled out the side and rear lining which made it easier to track the leaks. I found several leaks as per this thread. Sometimes you need to drive the car at speed to get the pressure up to force water in, sometimes I found that depending on the incline I parked, I got different results. Good Luck!
  3. In regard to the nut that I had trouble removing, I have just read the instructions in Google Docs "Suspension, 07-09 Camry Service Manuals". It suggests you can hold the stud to undo the nut by using a 5mm hex wrench to hold it.(Allen Key?) Wish I had read that first!
  4. Fitted the new rear sway bar today. Haven't had time to really test it but early indication is it is much better than stock, in fact I can't believe how weak the stock bar is, it is so light and flimsy! The only trouble I had was that the nut on one of the rear stabilizer links was difficult to undo as the ball joint with the stud kept turning. I took bar out by pointing it at about 45 degrees towards rear passenger door as per picture. The car was on ramps and I didn't have to drop muffler or do anything else. When I tightned the nut on the stabilizer link, there was just enough thread to have it flush as others have found. Thanks for all the helpful hints guys.
  5. Ha! I bought a whiteline 20mm RSB and it came with neither grease OR bushes. Consider yourself lucky if you get anything! woo ! im lucky then ;) got both .. but it took 6 weeks for it to come in <_< Just checked my packaging and Yes!, there was a sachet of brown/read grease wrapped in the bubble wrap and two bushes. Cant wait to fit the RSB and put the Aurion into corners, I suppose my tyres may start wearing out sooner after I get the job done!
  6. Got my 19mm Ultra Racing Sway Bar last night, just on two weeks from Malaysia. Will be fitting it on the weekend. Have ramps to do job. No clamps came with bar and I have seen others say just use the old ones. Do I need to put any rubber lube on bushes?...If so what sort? ....... and how long should the job take? It looks like less than an hour?
  7. I got the front bar from ebay ctech tuners, I was happy with what I got so I am buying the rear sway bar from him. here is the link http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ULTRA-RACING-19mm-Rear-Anti-roll-Bar-Toyota-Camry07-/150649462131?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2313685d73
  8. Ok after having the front strut bar for a week, I've just purchased the rear 19mm rear sway bar. Just to confirm, if I have the car on just ramps, do I need to take off the two rear muffler mounts as well as the Y mount to lower the exhaust a bit or can I get the bar out without doing that?
  9. Next time the unit is out, why don't you try put the vent into the dash and see how it sits. You can also hook up the vent to the unit before you put both back into place to see how they sit. Perhaps it may all become clear then what is going on. It should not be that hard.
  10. Ask your dealership to give you a quote, they list all the parts you need , price etc, my quote was $750.
  11. Cheaper option would be to get an off cut of pipe and put it on the end of your ratchet, the leverage worked wonders getting mine off. Dont use the pipe though to tighten them.
  12. Wow, got my Front Strut Bar in 14 days from ctech, fitted it in 10 minutes and the difference is well worth the $116 on special. I cant believe such a low cost mod would make such a difference. The Prodigy goes through corners and roundabouts so much better. Definitely more pointier, less roll and lots of fun. The dilemma now is do I try to keep tweaking it or leave well enough alone. If i did one more mod for body roll through corners for day to day driving, which one should I do? I'm not sure if I want to do anything out of fear I may wreck what I have just gained.
  13. I never had the gap either.(2007 Prodigy) My vents were also replaced under warranty as the first set rattled badly. So with two different vents, no gap. Perhaps the wiring harness to the top of the vent is in the way when you are pushing it back?
  14. Yes, that's all you really need to do, however if you notice what I mentioned in my post: So if you can avoid removing the rest of the trim, then go for it. When you take off the Plenum Chamber does the gasket get partially stuck on and then when you put the new gaskets on do you put any goo on them or is it a clean easy job?
  15. 85Nm (63ft/lb) if you want to follow the service manual. Thanks for that setting info DJKOR, what amazes me is that my son has a 2004 2.4 litre Camry Sportivo and they came standard with the Strut brace, it handles better than my Prodigy but doesnt have the grunt. I wonder why they didnt put the Tower Strut brace in as standard equipment on newer faster cars like the Aurion Spotivo and TRD? Aurion Sportivo and of course TRD (as every TRD started life as a SX6 or ZR6) do actually indeed have a strut tower brace located in the cowl panel area. The Sportivo/TRD chassis features many external and internal bracing to firm up the chassis for a more "alive" direct driving experience. :) My Prodigy has a black metal cowl panel assembly between the struts, it is pretty flimsy if it is supposed to be a brace, are the Sportivo and TRD ones any different? Anyway, just ordered my Ultra Racing 2 Point Front Stut Bar, can't wait to get it and see how much it improves handling in roundabouts and "S" bends.
  16. I reckon if i do it myself I'll buy the plugs from the US for $100 and I'm definitely going for the less frustrating way, it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to take off the wipers/cowl etc and from what your saying it gives heaps more room. My 90,000km service is due and I got a quote for $275 labour and $477 parts (gst inc) Total $754. The plugs were $257 (gst inc) making them $43 each. I think I might become a spark plug importer! There was no Plenum chamber gaskets itemised in quote so they either reuse old one if that is possible or don't remove it.
  17. I can follow your very detailed method but also read the Service Manual on Google Docs, Section EM-3 and they just say remove surge tank(Plenum chamber)then remove plugs, sounds so easy, LOL

  19. I am going to get the front strut bar next week. What is the torque setting when you re-tighten thr strut nuts?
  20. I had water coming into passenger side well from around petrol filler and also rear windscreen had a bubble in corner so water got under parcel shelf then came into boot. Also there is a vent in well that when you use a pressure washer, it lets water in. In my tyre well water was coming in from boot seal and also around light assembly. My car went back to dealer countless times under warranty. The techs were in my boot that much that eventually the timber cover over tyre well snapped in two. It is finally fixed. Toyota had a bulletin on all the possible water entry points and I think they found a few extra in mine! Good Luck.
  21. I thought someone might have commented by now with a similar experience, regarding my photos in the previous post
  22. Interested to know if anyone has seen water around petrol filler, rear yellow clip behind hard black plastic trim and around tail light assembly in the actual boot lid? See pictures attached, you need to remove the trim on each to see the leak.
  23. Thanks for all your suggestions, I will do the sums. I get the feeling by the time I try to change my Prodigy, I would be better off trying to buy a 1 to 2 year old ZR6 with low mileage that has depreciated a fair bit since new.
  24. I have been thinking for some time of changing from my Prodigy to a ZR6. Has anyone tried both? If so let me know how much better is the handling of the ZR6? Could I get the same feel by putting ZR6 sway bars on my Prodigy ?
  25. If you do not get a shudder or pulsating through the brake pedal and it is just a squeak from glazed rotors, why not try buffing them with a medium grit wet and dry sand paper or wire brush. It has worked for me and saved machining the disc !
