  1. dont' go for nangkangs, cheap too cheap. wears really quick but no benifits. i've had pirelli p5000's and p-zero's. the zero's are a class of thier own but $$$. at the moment for good value and not too cheap but a reliable tyre i've had 2 sets of goodyear f1's now. really really good tyres. not as good as pirelli's but lasts longer and its got benefits. pirelli p5000's are really good soft tyres but wears fast. stick with the good brands. it is the tyres that is keeping you on the road.. why discount your life?
  2. that it is dan son :D yeh wished we had track up here. although we're in the business of building a ae86 levn drifter.. .go the turbo ... got the engine... but can't find a bloody shell!!!! for a good price ... keep me posted if any of you decide the mod.
  3. 14.6 wha? yeah i know it sounds all crazy but when we actually done the job it was a phenomenal gain to the ae92 and civic. its a half day job removing those items and you have to re adjust the alternator belt. if anyone is willing to do it to a stivo definately post it. as it is the stivo is rev happy i wonder what it'll do?
  4. i can be a bitch... haha thanks for the tip. although that is effort too.... danz if u got time check out rev-limiter post... i wanna know ur opinion on the post i did there.
  5. Ok this is not helping much... i'm sure there's more people out there that has this problem... whether it be that you don't care or care.. please let me know.
  6. heard bad stories bout diamond vision and blue vision... their not lasting very long. and that came from autobarn. usually they try to sell you the more expensive itmes but in this case they found that the blue vision are the best for the $$$ and it'll last longer. also the only ones that are ADR approved.
  7. cool, that's cleared me doubts about it. after CAI fit i'm goin on a 1000km drive :) for work. can play with it then. as for cleaning it every 10,000 i suppose that's ok. i know bout not over oiling it. i wonder if they'd charge me extra if i got the service boys to do it. as it is i'm not fitting it. i'd hate to go through geting the battery out everytime i have to clean it. is there another way?
  8. yeah i am getting k&n swapped. i wasn't going to take simota. although people talk about blitz. i know they only have a short ram intake. i wonder how the blitz pod go..... but i'm not prepared to pay that much for a pod. danz - u cleaned urs yet , the pod that is? i'm guessing how u got it there its how u get to it to clean it... that's the only part i don't like. i know k&n states leave it for atleast 50,000k's before cleaning. It rains a little more where i am than any place i'm just stressing if the pod filter will be alright where its placed. you had any problems with water getting on/in the filter itself? or it doesn't really matter? since the filter is oily... this is one topic i haven't read yet
  9. if anyone wants to gaini more RPM's there is a cheap way.... its proven although to gain one thing you must lose something.... on a ae92 sx 4age we took the airconditioning out and the condensor.... torque, power and rpm gains were noticed. an example of this is that the car was revin off the clock and wasn't hitting the limiter still. tried it to a civic also and same gains. both cars are still running and that mod was done 2yrs ago. downside is you lose your aircon. keep it in mind. although personally i like my aircon too much.
  10. danz - CAI is coming Fri. i think flat spot is just how i feel the car. probably haven't driven many turbo cars. i prolly should stop driving turbo cars. who knows. but yes i do agree with --rudes-- for half the price without the name sounds good to me. i guess testing would be the only way to find out which ones are really the best and what pod it suits. so who's got the $$$ to do that?
  11. fair enough mate. basically your searching for a full proof set that your going to be happy with in a long run? lol i'd hate to tell you this but you can never be happy with 1 set of wheels. i'm a wheel junkie been through 9 sets since i've started driving. from 15's to 19's and i've found 17's are the best size for race and practicallity. 18's and 19's basically sunday drive wheels and cruise outs. pictures really, not sure have you chcked the Garage? i've seen a few piccies ont here. actually Lucie i think his name is was selling/sold his stivo on buy and sell and he had pics. check it out he had black rims on it.
  12. i don't want to get back into the discussion of which CAI does better... obviously TRD has its gains or else they wouldn't have designed it the way they did. Although 9/10 chaps out there that has bought the TRD CAI they have replaced the Filter. In saying that noone can really say which one is better unless they have experienced otherwise. i wish Dan Rucci would work on a 1zzfe instead of that rolla project his been working on for yrs. If nobody knows Dan Rucci, he owns www.modyourcar.com.au Founder of Rollaboyz anyway as for Flat. I believe i've been mis understood. I've driven a few cars now and most that have been 1.8L + i have experienced great 2nd gear response. I'm not saying the 1zzfe is shocking. i was merely pointing out my disappointment. My conquest is free from engine mods. my first engine mod you could say is going to be the CAI. The spot i was pointing out is actually when i'm engaged in second after Reving 1st out to 6000rpm i just don't get the pull i would like to feel... maybe its because i drive with me mates too often. out of the 10 cars we have in our circle mine is the only N/A car :( take a pick at these my99 subi x2 s14 x3 2000 pulsar sedan x1 mazda 323 protege x1 ae92 (3sgte con/ver) x1 civic 96 x1 and all turbo as you can see mine is basically just a Rolla good for cruising. and if i wanna race i just hop in me mates cars.
  13. Sportiv - prices - pick up your fone and call those places i listed. as for the picture go to the website and you can see them. and even comes with part # so you can be specific when you call. prices for 17's can range from $1000-$2000 with tyres just depends brands and design and what's on special as for 18's they can be just as cheap again depends on brands and design and if your after chrome, machine or colour. it does pay to ring a few places.
  14. yeah should of backed off on the upgrade. i don't have alarm just yet. but viper remote can control lock, wouldn't need standard remote. although 600 is steep for the quality of the alarm its not bad and you get auto up
  15. yeah chirps good but not as good pull as first. it just feels flat.
  16. Or you could buy Autosalon and Hot4s mags and he'd probably be surprised how many black rims are actually out there.. . also go for a drive down to your local BobJ or Jaxx or if your down south bris or syd go to tempe, ozzy, bsa and big o. www.tempetyres.com.au www.ozzytyres.com.au www.bsawheels.com.au (not sure if that's right if not search in google.com) www.bigotyres.com.au www.quickfit.com.au www.bobjane.com.au wei wei - g-max is nice :D
  17. Danz - thanks for the reply mate, i wasn't really expecting sky high gains. i have experienced CAI on previous cars but toyota is a different car, i loved the vvti story but i was actually disappointed with end performance. there's a flat spot in second. i rev 1st gear change at 6000rpm-6100 but as soon as 2nd engages there's no pull basically flat. i've raced a few other ricers and i was impressed with the mr lancer that had CAI + full exhaust who pulled away from me mid 2nd although i recouped at about 3rd (maybe he missed a gear :P ). when CAI installed did that get rid of the flat feeling?
  18. mentioning this.... everytime it rains that means he might have to clean filter regularly? anyone got a easy solution without removing battery to clean pod? i guess there wouldn't be unless you work from under. but you'd still have to remove cover. as for cleaning MAF sensor with brake and caliper cleaner... when you say carefull... be more specific?
  19. boys, if your willing to spend $600 on auto up when car is locked viper car alarm can be fitted by your local autobarn you get the fine alarm system and also auto up when car is locked. same deal as autolock activates auto up. as for blue_rolla.... mate it wouldn't be worth leccy wins unless you have money to splurge... shoulda just spent an extra $5k like me i shoulda just spent the extra $5k to buy a stivo instead of a conquest... i am ******.. oh well life goes on. i still like my 1zzfe
  20. Danz - what did you end up with atw figure when car was stock? just curious i might be sighting this CAI too high for gains. i realise no real gains can be achieved unless you complete the puzzle. more air intake means you need to push it out more. hence extractors/muffler. i've had a look at extractors not much for 1zzfe... got any views on what's good? i see you have a wildcat which i've never heard before.
  21. Dan - did you dyno your car stock? then dyno with CAI ? i wonder if they would do a deal where dyno the car this week and then dyno car Next week when CAI is fitted....
  22. what pod do you have? and what CAI do you have? check if there are leaks, and see if the pod is still good. check if everything is still good with the install like is everything still intact? check if your stereo is turned down? just jokes man.. good luck with it.
  23. blade - a mate of mine is actually a toyota/lexus salesman. he said when selling a car specially a fairly new one, don't just take the k's into account most of the time its also age. he also said always go private don't sell it to a dealer. for a stivo that age be happy to get $24k for how old it is. if anything expect a little less. although it does depend on the person your selling it to. if you get someone willing that's good. good tip is advertise it local newspaper and target students eg. yr 12's are getting their licenses. someone out there has a rich old man :D good luck with the sale.
  24. This is in the pipelines, just getting the cash together. Will also be doing it with the ITG pod in due course too. Could still be a month or 2 away but bear with me, there are other things I'm saving for at the same time too (check my garage) ← i'm actually waiting for my simota cai to turn up, but instead of simota filter their replacing it with k&n for no cost. but don't have the money to dyno :( where i'm from Cairns there's not that many places and the ones that are here will probably charge me a fortune. how much does dyno cost? anyone willing to give me some input?
