  1. it'd be interesting to see what simota does on dyno. what i'd like to see is each piping get tested with the same filter on it and to see if piping between TRD, AEM, INJEN, SIMOTA and K&N are any difference. i've tried searching for something like that and no hits.
  2. there you go BigBum i wish i could fine a simple solution... now i'm really getting put off. i don't like dodgy things like that where you have to paint it. although it'd be nice to get a sandblasted perspex to replace the whole dash and have a neon or led's lighting the whole dash up!! that would be mad!!!!!!
  3. ← well jade if your getting 143db from yours id have to be the same possibly more. im running 2x12" MTX subs off a JVC 560watt amp both in a box normally used for 10" subs. i pair of 220watt 6 1/2" pioneer 4 ways in the back doors i pair of 200watt 6 1/2" boss splits in the front and a 4 channel 1000watt boss amp for all the speakers so id have to be putting out similar db if not more. do ya know where ya can go to be tested without entering a comp? because im intested to know what dbs ive got but not interested in comps ← eddy, your system sounds similar but doesn't always mean the same db. for eg. the boxes ur subs are in if their designed for 10's then you'll find your losing dbs there. as for testing your system your local autobarn store should be able to hook you up with that or any decent audio shops, without entering a comp. get a few mates to do it and they'll probably only charge you 10$ each.
  4. ok. this is new to me... mind telling me what has been recalled? and does this only apply to sportivos? i know there's probably a post somewhere but search doesn't tell me otherwise. what issues are there?
  5. i'm afraid not.... if you take sleeves out they'll look like ur interior light... like orangy.. BigBum... which buttons? a/c and haz? i pulled mine apart today and put it back together after i read ur post. i'm going to leave it until i can find out if i could get replacement bulbs instead of sleeves. that's proving to be difficult.
  6. ROlla boy... a tip if you choose to take it. we found on your model corolla by actually sitting the subs slightly over the back seat while folded down we picked up an extra 2db. done anything to your engine? me mates ae92 sx had a 3sgte transplant and now pulling 300kwafw believe it or not. i like ur model rolla as i used to own one. really nice car to play with.
  7. judging from the pictures, man its really not that bright... i'd probably stay stock. unless the replacements are better. i've yet to find part #'s for the bulbs though. let me know how you go... i just wasted $5 on sleeves! i was about to put them on and i thought i'd check any replies. thanks mate even though it was a downer.
  8. Fair enoug danz but that's a 2 piece kit. do you know what brand that was?
  9. Deathzone... i'm sure you know this but its not how the system performs its all about placement of equipment specially the subs. you can have a 150db system which i had in my old ae92 rolla, but for some reason i can only get 145.1db on my new rolla, and using top end gear. go figure. but nice setup man. and if you like SQ and personally so do i, your set up is nice. ID goes off!
  10. sounds like a tight setup... its always comes down to the box and positioning with db. i'm not in competition anymore but i like my system to deliver quick responses and to do that you need high powered amps. basically i'd like to convert back to a single sub prefrebaly a image dynamics 12'. my custom box is just way too big when you put it in a hatch rolla!!! plus it weigh's my ride down too much, it weighs bout 50kgs with subs!!! stock speakers in the rolla is nice. i don't actually have plans to change that at all... and like you i don't listen to my system loud unless u get a git who's got a sony setup for less than 1k who's tryin to pump up his system at the lights... then i break the seal... surprisingly... 9/10 turn their systems down got pics of ur rolla Jade?
  11. arent' all piping relatively similar? wouldn't it be just the pod filter itself that could make a hole lot of difference.. i dont' see how different type of metal thickness/colour would make such a difference. anyone want to prove me wrong as i'm 50/50 on the matter? i've just ordered myself a simota for $198 local autobarn, plus i got my filter changed to K&n for no cost :P but their charging me fitting this time.
  12. nice rolla boy, what does your system consist of? something like that you'd have to be running 0 gauge wiring. and your amp would have to be pumping well over 1000rms to feed subs to kick that hard? what ohm'g do you run? and is it a bridged system?
  13. sell the 6x9's and by a decent 6.5 components splits. better SQ and easier to mount and looks better. 6x9's never really had good SQ and although good for home audio use!! they're $)(%*#@$ loud hooked up to a decent amp and get a huge box for it! the rattling he may be experiencing is not enough back pressure on the 6x9's to hold it so try getting a cover for the back of the speaker it'll also help with weighing the back shelf down. also what's powering the 6x9's?? if you don't have suffiecient power it'll also distort.
  14. thanks man. i thought about that just putting sleeves and i figured the ciggy bulb was different. how does the blue turn out? is it atleast brighter than the greens? got some pics? i figured if i replaced the bulbs they'd be brighter than just putting sleeves. and no i haven't took my dash apart i only wanna do it once that's why i'm getting the info first.
  15. Blue Rolla - i haven't tested mine recently but late last year when i installed my rockford 500x with the 2 12' strike series lightning's i pulled 145.1 db at half gain having the box sitting on the back seats while they've been pulled down. i found by moving the box slightly over the black seat i gained 2db :P if you have a portable setup trying moving the sub around it all comes down to how your sound reverbs off the back of the hatch and how much actually bounces back into the front. always face subs towards the back for better db. i haven't tried full gain on mine and i don't think i will.... as it is half gain it smashes you. everyday driving i have it at 1/4 gain. its enough to knock someone's socks off. i heard a story that someone actually gained 3db by putting a fluffy dice on their rear vision mirror. scientifically made sense. it broke the sound direction and shifted it towards where the mic was sitting. funnily he got the record. what set up do you have?
  16. before i start just so everyone knows either s/c or t/c are personal preferrences. now in comparisson to any car spend $10k s/c and spend 10k t/c 9/10 t/c a car has more benefits. simple as that. seriously speaking when all sportivo owners bought the sportivo they bought because of how it was presented not the because of their potentialliaty. be happy with your ride and what a n/a car can do. if you really want to turbo something do it to a semi old car or choose a car that is proven to be beneficial when turboed. and depending on use choose the right car. personally i think silvia's, skyline's and 200's and 180's are great track cars. found more of the smaller cars such as wrx, evo, lancers, old skool rollas like late model ae's were great to turbo and straight runs. so for arguement sake, just choose a car for the purpose. unless you have $$$$$ to spend you can't have a car that can do track/qtr at the sametime. but i am a proud toyota owner! who else is?
  17. I know this is a really old post but noone has mentioned part numbers for the bulbs!!!!! someone help me out repco and autobarn can supply i need a part number, i haven't pulled the dash apart but i figured the bulbs are the same as the one attached to the ciggy lighter? is this true? someone help.!! i'm thinking of going either blue or red so if someone has a part number of either and brand name that would be great. also how many they needed to use? i have a 04 rolla zzfe. also where do u get sleeves that actually fit and if you can't how do you utilise the 5mm narva sleeves? thanks for listening!
  18. ok best thing to do is after you washed it, whatever you do don't even drive on anything other than bitumen or concrete. i found a cheap alternative if i park outside. you can pick up a cheap car cover for about $30 supercheap or autobarn if its in garage i suggest putting that on too, anything you have it at home when you can put a cover. dont' park near trees or anywhere remotely close to dirt :) tree saps leak out and before you even know it you have stains in the paint. as for chamois, go to a panel beater ask them what they would use for a show car. should answer those question. mine gave me one and been using it for 8months and still good.
  19. i got black with PP and RUST etc etc as a deal it won't minimise any swirls, although it does give added shine to your car. its alot nicer looking when its clean if its been done with PP. and you can't be that much of a tight budget you've just spent $28k spend another $2k for the gear its cheaper in a package. good quality tint as well.
  20. I wasn't the one who said it revs to 6000rpm :) ← i didnt' say you did, was merely trying to get support that it revs higher than 6000rpm has your revs imrpove since your mods? or its affective the torque more than revs? let me know i'm trying to start modding i have put it off for the past 8months of having the car. still really would like to know parts needed for coolant by pass. also that white water bottle thing i've been reading... i still don't get what/where it is i know its something to do with near the filter?
  21. nice all you need now are some dish wheels !!!! and drop the thing with super lows kings black tint tail lights and darker tinting.... VIP apart from being a stivo... might look like mine :P
  22. yeh i know about the back bumper, sh*ts me....... it can be like that after a day without rain! just dust build up. luckily i don't have to wax my car ...... i got PP done when i picked it up as a newy! and i find PP makes the car shimmer when its clean opposed to a black one that doesn't have PP wash n chamois
  23. that's a fair response, everyone is different i suppose. but if you were after fuel economy and easy driving may as well buy a Getz :P as for turbo in cars, performance wise its 100% better than s/c from my point of view, power/torque is not an issue when you take into consideration when doing either you can get all sorts of ECU upgrades or even a computer management that you can tune to liking. all in all its preferance.
  24. that was an interesting read.... why bother supercharging though when you save a little more can be spent on turbo? and although more $$$ and work you can play with the boost! my mate just finished his ae92 rolla seca sx - candy midnight purple sitting in SubZero Labrador - Gold Coast. running 3sgte (4age sittin at home waiting for a ae86 shell and 4agze conversion :D ) his output is 300kwFw yeh i'm not joking, too bad he hasn't done anything about suspension., last time we test drove it the exhaust kept licking the bitumen everytime we'd launch with 25psi NASTY~~ although he has a race switch which plugs 30psi. with 30k+ spent it was worth it i think. and very different. danz - i thought 1zze rev out at 6200rpm? or just before it... i'm sure it goes past the 6000 mark.. hehe and also never race a civic hatch with the teggy motor in it.......... MUNCH! 1st gr..... teggy goes about 40m ahead... not a good look.
