  1. Congrats Craig great time. Dont worry about us Vic boys im sure nino_leb has a few cousins down here with a quicker time than that :) . My question to you guys is, now that Craig has just managed to break the 15 sec pass with quite alot of mods to his car, would it be fair to say that the quoted q/m for the stock car of 16.1 is actually more realistic than what we all believed?

PS: if you want a faster time, come down to calder raceway in a couple of months, its gona be freezing cold, i noticed you raced in 22 degrees temp with 71 percent humidity, thats not good man, id love to see you take the track in 10 degres or lower.

  2. The letters in the engine code of toyota's is to so with head design. The GE engine codes have the head designes at 65 degrees (I THINK) so they are wider than the others, so when you compare the 1zzfe with the 2zzge you can see the width of the 2zzge being wider from the angle design. the same applies with the 4age and the 4afe, the head of the 4age is wider. The reason for the angle is to allow the heads to breathe better and thus rev harder (I THINK). I read up on it ages ago, cant remember all the details. :P :P

  3. About 2 weeks after the clutch adjustment, the clutch dropped back to a lower than before level, so i took the car in, as the clutch pedal was taking a while to come back up after changing gears while in lift, literally staying on the floor and i had to use my foot to push it back up from underneath making driving a bit dangerous, not to mention tight gear changes. Anyway, i take the car in, and the dealer offered a mechanic to drive it for me. The bl@@dy thing was fine that day wasnt it ;) so the mechanic said its all sweet. He tried to land in lift but couldnt manage 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd, dropped out everytime. The guy was an ex integra type R owner now a WRX owner. He believes the gearing is wrong for the stivo and that toyota deliberatly made it so that we dont stay in lift every gear for fuel consumption and reliability reasons, where as honda geared the car differently and stayed in V-tech all the time but was hard on fuel when driven hard. He also pointed that toyota detunes their cars by up tp 30% to maintain strong reliability. Anyway he ended with the clutch and gearbox to be fine and stated that "if there are gearbox issues with the synchros, you can tell when you downshift if it's hard to get in, as the car will increase in revs, not upshift where the revs drop". When upshifting, if it's hard to engage its most likely human error. I think thats crap, as a few days later the clutch pedal played up again. Now im thinking of taking it in to another dealer to see what they have to say about it.

  4. Hi Sunny_bill

Welcome aboard. So far i have not had engine issues, and i dont think many of us had as long as youdrive sensibly, your engine should run fine, as for the CAI, any engine mods will basically void engine warranty, so keep the original air box on hand to replace it if something goes wrong.

  5. It just shows that you must do your own research before buying anything. Ive had numerous car salesmen talk about their cars etc etc then when you ask them a simple question of how big the engine is etc etc they have no friggin idea, they give you stupid looks like "how am i suppose to know?" and it's like, its your job Di*khead, blahhhh, salesman and lawyers all from the same boat, talk sh*it all day never do a hard days work. I have no doubt any of us owners would be able to sell the car better. As for the "kompressor" Bill, one guy at the motorshow knew about it but didnt think the market was big enough over here, as for the TS01 camry, what a joke, buy a TRD supercharger kit and slap it on wow??? i mean thats just a load of crap, then have the car the the motorshow for a cheap publicity stunt. The fact of the matter is that toyota do not portray a sporting image and they are not really interested in that market segment, i mean just check out the new sports cars we can get from toyota, a bit of a joke really, underpowered and no match for real sports cars, but what ever they do, they sell heaps of cars.

  6. I was there last nite, got a rally poster signed by all the corolla drivers and co. The new corolla looks very similar, however i was impressed by the new astra SRi turbo, looked really good, as well as the VW golf GTi turbo :) . The Astra still has the same 2.0 147kw turbo, as will the new golf.I'll post some pics later.

  7. I dont think it has anything to do with South African manufacturing, more to do with the lack of sporting pedegree by Toyota Australia. I am sometimes still surprised that we get the 2zzge engines over here, as in the past none of the high performance engines came over here, i mean the pre-1999 celicas all had camry engines here
