Noise when reversing & braking

Hey all...

Just wondering if anyone else gets a noise, when reversing and braking.

I'm starting to notice a squeaking/squealing noise when i reverse and brake...

Mish said they get a noise also, but it's when there car is cold.

I can hear the noise when i get home from work, reversing my car into my backyard, after a half hour or so drive.

But i have gone forward as soon as i hear it, and no noise, it's only reversing.

Anyone else get this noise, or know what it is. Any help would be great.

Thanking you in advance

Where does the sound come from? As specific as possible. I mean, the engine? Underneath you? Behind you?

If you cant tell wind down the window and try, or get someone else to reverse it and jog next to it and see if you can tell

Sounds coming from the front, like from the front brakes... so yeah, dunno...

Actually just got back from Blacktown toyota, spoke to the guy etc, he got details, then right at the end, he said i'll have to leave the car for a whole day, after i asked him if i could come same time next week (3:30ish), and i'll have to drop the car off at 7am, some people just don't listen... bit hard for me, when i start work at 6

But after all that, i'll go take it somewhere closer to my work and hopefully they'll fix it under warranty.

But just wondering if anyone else has this problem also..

thanks

I have been getting a slight noise from my front end when I am braking lately, but it is because I need my rotors machined....

Well my minds a little more at ease now.

My friend who also has a 05 stivo, also gets that noise,

and after hearing it on his car also, i'm not as worried as much.

but will still bring it into the dealer, it's still under warranty, so why not.

Better be free for them to check it out...

heh, yeh i hate it when you hear noises n get problems but i always feel better when i find out other ppl get them and just ignore it lol. Except when i hear about ppl blowing like 2-3 20v's n stuff.

And now i have a friken weird reversing noise, but this is not a squeaking though. CAnt describe it, but its worrying me. I can only here it in underground car parks, with the passenger window down :(

It's most likely glazed discs and pads...

They glaze up and that causes the brake squeal...

Quick fix is to remove the pads and roughen them up on concrete or with sandpaper... Also use the sandpaper on the disc surfaces to roughen them up...

Noise should be gone...

Not too sure if this will be covered by warranty or not, although I know disc machining is covered if there is brake shudder evident...

i have and o5 stivo and i get the same noise. im not to sure but i think most cars would produce the same noise when reversing and braking. this is due to the fact that like 99.99999999% of the times you use the brake u are goin forward.. so the disc and the brake pad are worn out in 1 direction which is forward. so thats why when you reverse and brake it makes that noise. its nothing to worry about. and there is really no way to fix it.

I've had this noise as well.

Its one of two things just the pad clearance on the rear discs or just a build up of pad dust between the pad and the rotor.

As stated by the others, you can try giving them a clean out or roughen up.

I also get this problem with my 03 stivo.... Its embarrasing cause I allways try to sneak out of home with out my neighbours being able to sticky beak :(

My rotors need machining tho, cause I get the rad wobbles on the anchors.
