hey i ****** up =( one of the bolts that goes into the rail to the ground. the nut that is welded beneath the chassis has come off due to me being an idiot and screwing in the bolt @ an angle..

my question is does anyone know someone that can fix this

SOMEONE HELP ME ):

which bolt is it?

One of the M6 10mm head bolts?

If it's just one of those, grind the paint off a bit and add a nutsert to the rail, that will give a good enough ground.

nah not the one that attaches the seat to the rail.. its the one that bolts down the rails to the chassis

ahh, didn't realize you were taking about the seat rails, thought you were talking about chassis rail.

Sometimes there's a slot in the box section under the carpet that the seats bolt to, so it would be possible to get a nut in place and then add a new tack weld to hold it there.

Hey champ. A tac weld will do the job. Before you do it i would be weary of letting people use the seat for the time being. In an accident there is a slim change it will come loose and could be a little ouchy for your passenger. :D

Obviously putting a whole new bolt would be preferable. I have seen this done...not on a corolla though. Took a bit of effort but it is obviously a lot safer and more structurally sound than a weld but will cot a little more to have done. Good luck!

sorry a tac weld ??? =O did u mean by that just use a mig welder and weld the edges of the seat rails to the ground?

you wouldn't tack the rail to the car... Would burn the carpet for starters.

if there's an access slot there, pull the carpet out, feed a new nut in place, add a longish bolt through from the top to screw into the nut so you can pull the nut up against the inside of the metal, then use a mig etc to weld through the thin sheet to the nut to hold the nut in place. I'd personally add two tack welds, drilling holes in the sheet first near the edges of the nut to get a decent weld between the nut and the sheet. Once done you can unscrew the bolt that was being used to hold the nut up, clean the metal up, add some paint, install the carpet and away you go

sorry i was confused as to which bolt we were talking about

Listen to rollamods....he is so wise! 2 welds much better than one!!!! :yahoo:
