RunX/Allex vs TS

Hi, everyone.

I am from New Zealand and its nice to meeting everyone here.

I am planning to buy an used corolla 2002-04 model(Automatic) and currently down to two options, which are TS model (NZ new, VVT-i engine) and Runx/Allex(Japan imported, VVTL-i engine) model. What I understand is that the Runx/Allex model has more power and the usual TS model, and better gearbox. However, I just need this car for work and due to the high petrol price, I wont need this high power most of time.

And my questions are:

How is the fuel consumption of Runx/Allex model?

Does this model all has 4WD?

How come most of Runx/Allex model are cheaper than the TS model even though the TS model has higher milage?

When I going to buy a used corolla TS or Runx, what should I keep it in mind?

How is the fuel consumption of Runx/Allex model?

Not so good if u run the car hard which u will because lift is very fun :) i get about 350 km max to a tank.

Does this model all has 4WD?

It does come 4WD but not with the 2zz-ge 1.8 VVTL-i engine

We have the Runx also known as the sportivo. If i was you i would buy the Runx, fuel consumption is not an issue. There is another topic that talks about fuel consumption, do a search and you will see that we are getting very good fuel economy from these cars

I travel about 550km before my fuel light goes on.

You will find that an automatic Runx is not that fast compared to the manual version due to gearbox not being able to stay in the power band in between gear changes, although it will probably be still faster then the TS. But maybe the TS would be the better choice as it produces more useable torque in between gear changes.

Are the interior equipment the same?? i.e. trim, climate control etc...

The AWD is based on the Matrix version, which only comes with the VVTi, not VVTLi.
