Hi guys, did a quick search on splits but didnt find much.

Im looking to buy second hand Alpine 6.5" type R splits off ebay, does anyone know any drawbacks

with buying second hand splits? is the sound quality less since it may have been cranked?

Also any opinions on alpine type R and type S splits themselves?

thanks in advance guys

sorry for the dumb question lol

Not a dumb question dave, we share a great name 2.

I bought my splits 2nd hand. They are Focal 6.5" splits, absolutely nothing wrong with them. But again its like buying anything 2nd hand, you are gambelling because of the fact that your buying something you havnt seen or heard.

90% of the time you got a good seller, look at the feedback rating.

But you save many $$$ off the purchase price than a new set of splits. And the advantage is theyve been worn in. so it should sound even better than new.

cheers for the input DAVIboy :P great name

think I might just bid on them..they look a bit older then the current ones..but ohh well..prob sounds the same haha

They are more or less exactly the same thing, probably different plastic surrounding it.

as for second hand speakers, there should be no problem with them,

the upside to it is you don't have to break them in, and re-tune and re-tune like a new set.

good luck on your purchase

thanks for the help guys, lost the bid but after i realised it was a good thing --> as the model was a 2004 and didnt have as much specs as the newer ones( seller didnt post the model number..only pics :S )

but yeah got my eye on the pioneer DEH 6050 :P looks pretty neat.

cheers
