Hey All!

Im currenty working on installing a Pod Filter and I have a few questions

1. On the stock filter box, it is attached to electrical wires. What is it and will

it affect the car if it is disconnected?

2. How can i get cold air to a pod filter instead of warm engine air?

3. Recommended pod filter for my celica 89 and where can i get it?

4. Can i used something other then a Pod-Filter?

If anyone can help me it would greatly be appreciated!

thanks.

Hi,

1) Might b the Air Flow Meter wiring, you will need that. Ask Toyota if in doubt.

2)Shield the pod filter with aluminium or direct some cold air from the front of the car to the pod filter with some 3 inch flexi pipe/hose you can get from hardware stores or auto shops.

3) Many, K&N is the easiest to source and can get them cheap atm with clearance sales.

4) An aftermarket panel filter in the stock airbox will do okay too, and you can redirect piping to suck cool air. Pod filters give a nicer induction note and more air flow that's all.

Hope that helps. Maybe someone can post pics?

Hi Kyoto

Just adding to what to what Zeerolla said, the electrical wiring on the airbox is indeed your Airflow meter. car will not run without it.

Just a tip, when you take out he stock airbox and install the cone filter, make sure you have some sort of bracket supporting the rubber tube and airflow meter. If not, the rubber tube will eventually crack and they are expensive and especially hard to find. most wreckers sell them with the engine so you won't find them there if it cracks. You can probably fabricate a customer bracket from stuff from your local hardware store. just bolt the bracket to the mounting holes for the stock airbox.

cheers, hope this helps

Alright...

Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated!

I did some work on it, Wasn't that hard which was a plus

I kept the electrical wiring (airflow meter) and added a bracket before installing

a pod filter. Works well.

Bad news though. i think ive lost power becuase its sucking more warm egine air then before. You guys are right i might need a kool box and some piping to direct some cool air.

Atm moment ive added some spacers on the hood so it stays (safely) open some...

Only then the car runs a little better.

Big plus was the sucking noise when i hit 3000rpm... way kool

thanks!
