Oil Filter

What's the sump plug gasket? Is that the white plastic piece?

It's blue in colour about the diameter of a 5 cent piece and it looks like a paper washer.

hmm okay, I never got that before

I don't have a sump plug gasket. I have the update 2010 Presara and have just done my second oil change on it. I was surprised that there was no gasket the fist time and thought I must have dropped it in the oil but could not find it.

So I have done 10,000 k with out it leaking a drop.

Can someone please tell me for sure is there supposed to be a sump plug gasket?

Yes there is supposed to be a sump plug gasket fitted to help stop any leaks. I would put one on at the next oil change since its not leaking at the moment.

Has anybody tried this oil filter from eBay 3 for US$ 18.29?

I've avoided aftermarket filters ever since I saw a fuel filter (not on an Aurion) that had a hole straight down the centre - in this case all the fuel would bypass the filter element. And this was from a well known and readily available brand in Australia ...

Why the hell would you buy an aftermarket filter which is more expensive as well on top. I bought a genuine filter from the Toyota parts at my local dealer for only $18.

How do you know those filters are fake? (too tired to notice much atm)

I really don't know but I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say it's not the real deal. Especially at that price for three and the fact it never says it's a genuine filter(almost every ebay listing says if a Toyota part is genuine). I'd just still like that piece of mind that when I buy it from my parts dealer I know I'm getting the real deal.
