what do you mean by 'adjustable cams'?

you can't get adjustable cam gears as it interferes with VVTi

If you are talking about adjusting the cam timing, this can be done many ways with different ECUs, piggybacks and plug in controllers.

no they are saying that you can't get an adjustable cam gear because of the vvti. However, if you wish to change the cam timing (different to adjusting the cam gear) you can with a cam controller, but it would be pretty pointless

hmmm

coz i been givin tips that if i can get a cam controller i can pretty much get a tuner to tune it so that i can either feel all the cams working in low - midrange or at higher RPMS

If you fit a vvti controller you will still need something that can control the fuel.

i believe that the power enterprise cam controller can do air fuel settingg in it .. is dat what u talking about ?

Or you can change the physical camshaft piece for a different brand with a more aggressive profile

changing physical cam shaft meaning what ... changing the size or length ?

Neither. The cam determines such things as when the valves open and for how long. Standard cams will be for fuel economy. Performance companies make gnarly cams that will open a particular valve for longer at the right time, for example, which would make your car marginally quicker. Watch the VVTLi annimation pinned by Northy in the technical section, it's related sort of. If you change the actual camshaft you won't need any electrical crap, it's good old fashioned muslce car technology.

Changing to a more aggressive cam profile/design. Aggressive cams tend to have more valve lift, duration and overlap which moves the power band higher in the rev range. Cams can however also be chosen to target more mid range or low end depending on what you want out of the engine. There is a lot of detail in cam design and selection and this probably isn't the time or place to discuss it, but this should give a good overview on what cams do and help you decide what you're ultimately after, Wikipedia link and How Stuff Works link.

Crower offer aftermarket cam shafts for the 1zz.

yeah I know....I have it :)

but the airfuel ratio isn't simple to set.

you need a wideband to check the correct ratio.

I have never looked before, but you might have to go with a custom grind. I'm sure there are some specialists that can do regrinds or new billet grinds near you.
