The thing with the CAI, is that the name may be slightly more misleading then you think. I don't believe a really big difference in temperature would affect the engine that much. Its the decrease in restriction and the increase in velocity of the air that probably makes most of the difference, not to mentioned that maybe the optimum length has been developed to ensure that the intake allows the engine to produce the most amount of power possible.

Its like saying that if I HPC my whole exhaust system, followed by wrapping, it will produce more power then a 2.5" catback straight through exhaust.

All in all, the modified stock air box 'should' produce slightly better results, I wouldn't say its an alternative to a proper CAI. Its probably more of mod for people that are concerned about getting caught.

Kudos to Wayne for writing it up, cause I know most of us couldn't be bothered.

i have done this mod and noticed a diff in response

now all this talk of trd cai and the like

i see this mod as basicaly the same thing execpt for the lack of shiney heat soakable steel pipes

as far as i have seen a properly designed and fitted airbox and filter will almost allways get better results on the dyno than a pod on its own ( and before anyone says anything i have spent alot of time around the dyno)

now i have a K&N pannel filter fitted to stock box and a cold air pipe to the front bar and i am yet to dyno this

sorry for long post lols
