was thinking of changing the rims on a silver aurion zr6 to 19" and 8.5" or 9" wide will it scrub?

do you have any thoughts of what sort of rims i should get? what would suit the car

ps if you have changed or wheels please post a picture for some idea.

Well...those sizes would be ok eventho you gonna lower your ride on them.

just make sure if you are going for 20" make the tyre profile to 30 otherwise they might scrub if you lower the car by changing the springs..

Also, everyone has different taste and what to choose is totally up to you.

if you like it, then go for it.

if you like classic style then 5~6spokes would be suitable,

if you like luxury and elegant style then go for AUDI or MB styel,

etc...

EDIT: It is hard to say that "This(Particular rim sryle) is the best!" because there are too many styles on the rims and it depends on what colour your car is.

I have 19" x 8.5 and they have never scrubbed.

I've done just over 30k without a single problem... other than curbing both fronts!

PaulMT - I like those rims. They blend in well with the car. Not basic like stock rims, and not too flashy that it looks aftermarket.

Really, the the only reason why I want to put 19' on my Aurion is because I want a wider tyre so I get more grip. I don't want it to stand out too much.

Well...those sizes would be ok eventho you gonna lower your ride on them.

I have 19" x 8.5 and they have never scrubbed.

hey thanks man! I like those wheels they keep the sportl look of the car without making it to noticeable.

good to hear your results but I also plan on lowering it so I think I might be in a bit of ****. 19" by 8" ?

You will lose a little comfort going to a smaller profile tyre, but it's a tradeoff. On the Aurion, it isn't that much of one either. It's just I am the type of person that likes hard acceleration (from a stop) and I feel that the extra 30mm of tyre width (19' rims with 245 wide vs. 17' rims with 215 wide), would benefit. It should also reduce some tyre squeal around corners.

That said, I am in need of new tyres quickly, so I'm thinking of putting on some Potenza Adrenalin's and seeing how they perform with a 215 wide profile. After all, it's only street bound vehicle, so if the Adrenalin's perform alright, I will stick with my 17's.

any scrub?

If you wanna lower your ride on those tyres (35 profile) by changing the springs, they scrub.

30 profile one doesn't scrub tho.

That's why I am looking for some coilovers to get my ride lower because I don't wanna change those tyres..

I did consider that, but didn't want to get the 'fat' tyre look. In my opinion, that look can only really be pulled off by muscle cars.

It was quite interesting if you scroll down to the section labelled "Fat or thin? The question of contact patches and grip". From what I gather, the wider tyres won't really be as much of an improvement for my grip from a standing stop. As I said, I'll see how the Adrenalin's go. I should be getting those in a couple weeks time.

A point about the handling...

My 19 x 245 Falken tyres keep the car like it's on rails. The handling was improved immensely over the stock wheels and tyres in terms of grip, but,

be aware that the ride on the Aurion Sportivo's is already very stiff and quite hard (which is good) so with the lower profile it does get a little bit more firm.

The biggest change is the torque steer and camber wander and the car following the ridges and ruts in the road. This is dramatically changed from the standard 17 x 215 tyres.

I like it but it can wake you up in a hurry if you relax and sit back in cruisey mode. I find that on rougher "b" grade type surfaces it requires full attention and two hands.

I kept my original 17" Mags and Michelin tyres and have them stored away. I will maybe put these back on before selling the car or sell them, but regardless of my comments I wouldn't change the set-up I have now as it makes for a very cool ride.

I really like the performance of the Falken tyres and have done 30k on them. I would definitely use them again when the time comes even though they are a little road noisy.

BTW the five (thinner) spoke mags like mine makes for easy cleaning!

Agree with everything you said PaulMT. Especially re the diff in torque and needing two hands! To me tho, makes me feel like i have to "drive" the car instead of just cruising around. And, yea... like she's on rails!! Is great fun!! Never even had a squeal out of mine, no matter how hard i push them. :whistling:

My are 245 / 30 / 20's lowered and no scrubbing. Before 245/ 35 /20 didnt scrubb at standard height, once lowered then scrubbed. Changed tyre to lower profile, now fine.

fronts are 20"x8.5" +35 offset, 5/112 stud pattern

rears are 20"x9.5" +35 offset, 5/112 stud pattern

Will this fit an aurion?

Em...just a quick question.

Why do you want to get different size rims for front and rear? eventho it's not even RWD.

for example,like jerms said.

If it's only for dress up purpose, I wouldn't worry about it but those different rim size on FWD vehicle with bigger rear rims could cause some serious accidents in some specific cases.
