Hi all,

Just thought I'd post up some pics of a Metallic grey Corolla which I did today. Owner was just after a Stage 1 exterior detail with spot correction to some scratches which she had on the car.

I started off with the initial wash and clayed the car with Bilt-Hamber Auto Clay.

I then went over the car to see where the scratches were.

I began sanding the scratches with 2k wet paper then followed it up with the rotary using Prima Swirl with 4" LC Orange pad.

Here are some before and afters.

Scratch 3

This scratch was too deep to correct all of it but I did part of it so it doesnt look as bad as what it did.

Once the spot corrections were done, the rest of the car got a single stage machine polish.

I started off with Driven Finish restorer and found that it was biting a fair bit so I tried Menzerna 106ff and PO203s but they were just as bad or a lil worse.

So I went back to the Driven Finish restorer but mixed with some Driven Quick Spray. This worked well as it wasnt biting and was helping the pad glide more.

After the polish the paint was sealed with 2x Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant.

Tyres and trims were shined and windows cleaned.

Couldnt get any full outdoor shots as it started raining.

the scratches werent actually touched up, they were sanded back and then polished to remove the sand marks.

This can only be done if the scratches havent gone past the clear coat (on modern day cars).

Prices vary from detailer to detailer for correction jobs. It can be anywhere from $55-$75 p/h

Cheers

I offer 10% discount on my products to the members on this forum.

As for detailing work, I price it accordingly depending on what the owner wants done on the vehicle.

Each detail is always that little bit different.

That's some fine work. The though of sandpaper touching the car makes me shiver. Just doesn't seem natural.

Yeah its abit daunting at first having to wetsand but you get use to how far you can go the more you do it.

I only use it as a last resort when I know that if I try to buff it out with the rotary it will either take too long or I will burn the paint.

You have to check regulary how much paint your taking off so that you dont sand too far till you reach the base coat.
