G'day,

I was just wondering if someone could suggest a nice easy way to make it so that a 2000 Camry Conquest will not start when you put the key in the ignition and try to start it...?

I'm hoping just a fuse maybe?

Cheers

For a long term security, you would buy an immobiliser so that only you can start the car. Easier options would be a hidden switch that cuts the power to the fuel pump so that the car will not run.

If you were leaving the car (like while on holiday) and you were that concerned about preventing the car from being started, you just pop the bonnet, go to the fuse/relay box, and unplug the relay labelled 'IGN' or 'EFI'.

If the factory immobiliser isn't enough to give you peace of mind there's a few options you could go with.

Maybe just pull the battery (and fuses) :P, or you can buy a coded immobiliser for the fuel pump, (saw a Gen4 with one just yesterday), disconnect the ignition wiring, remove the fuel line to injector rail (1 nut) ect.

It's not that hard to make a car not be able to start :P

Why do you need it to be immobilised??

just insure it, make sure you do agreed value so at least youll get more in return

put it in your garage, then lock it. jack the car up and put it onto 4 jackstands so all four wheels are off the ground, then remove the wheels.

thats what one of my mates did when he went overseas for 3 months, lol

Yeah, some people have a switch hidden in their car that's connected to the fuel pump... I'll be doin that soon enough :)

Or... so as Rel says, PIN coded fuel pump FTW! Quite nifty seeing that in action! Mind you, the car's got over 65k's worth of mods :P
