Part NEEDED for a RA61!

I own a Toyota Celica from 03-1984, its a RA61 2.0.XT Liftback (21R engine).

I'm searching for a driverside A-pilar (interior) plastic panel in the color

Dark Brown. There isnt mucht to get concerning parts in the EU, so i'm watching this worldwide for a long time (read 6 month's). The Toyota Dealer cant deliver anymore expect the OEM price of 65euro's.

The junkyards in Japan on www.autojapan.net gave me the following answer; 'sorry it is too old for us. try australia'.

So i'm running out of options!! And don't know realy what to do. Any info about the junkyards in Austria (online) will help also, to place a request.

If you can get this part, and ship it to Holland you would solve my problem and frustration. You'll be paid for the extra effort .

Thanks in advanced,

Daniël V.

I'll see what i can find in my local wreckers mate.

Thanks a lot Downshift, but i've to remind you, the panel broke (in several pieces) while i was removing it to install the mic from my Parrot CK3000 EVO, the panel has above two pushing clips, but beneath (towards the dash) one big 'hook' pointing towards the roof, this is the problem, when not removing wright it will break, please beware of this 'hook' when you find one en try to remove it yourself.

I need the driver-side panel, the driver-side in Austria (right handed), here in the the EU is that the passenger-side,

so i need the passenger-side for the cars in your country. When standing behind the car its the left side.

Check the picture beneath to see some of the 'inner' side of the panel.

I hope you sucseed mate.

Thanks in advance,

Daniël V.

That's ok mate,

I own 2 RA60's but both have black interior.

I know i saw one at my local wreckers a day or so ago and that had brown interior.

Thanks for the advice on how to remove it.

I will take care on removing it as they may also be fragile due to the age of them.

Will get back to you on the success of me finding one or not.

Cheers

From Jimmy

I've got a RA60 in the backyard, believe it or not this is basically the only interior panel missing. Sorry I couldn't help out dude, considered trying to glue the panel back together?

That is my final option, i kept all the pieces in the trunk. But i have to try to find the panel. Someone on the forum of the Dutch Celica Club mentioned that the RA61 were not loved in the EU, so i'll be having a hard time to come yet. From the, maybe a dozen, driving in the Netherlands, the keep there price, take a look for yourself url; http://www.marktplaats.nl/index.php?url=ht...w%253D%26fs%3D1 thisone is standing for almost two years for sale, and everytime the seller place his ad again, another sample url; http://www.marktplaats.nl/index.php?url=ht...w%253D%26fs%3D1 same here for almost a year now.

Let me ask you something different, here in this country we have one database that connects to all the junkyards troughout one internetsite, if you need something you place your request, and the junkyard will contact you, if he has the part. Does Australia has something like this? And would it be usefull to search for parts for a RA61? This country had the answer of too old and not profitable or valuable enough. Do you reconize the 'hard' times now?

Nevertheless Thanks for replying!

Hi Mate,

I checked my local wreckers for the part you were after,

there was a ra65 there with a brown interior but unfortunatley the panels and interior were all torched and melted.

Will keep an eye out though in the next few weeks for anymore that come in the yards.

I'm waiting to hear from the person who has it.

but will let you know if they are ok.

Do you know if the MA61 equivalent will fit by any chance?

Nope, the A-pillar panels from a MA61 are made of some kind of clothing (from what i heared it looks like leather?, the Celica just keeps it with plane old plastic), meaning if i want these that i have to change every panel inside.

Thanks for so far.

Ah ok yer i haven't seen the interior of a MA61 but i thought they'd be the same.

I'm still waiting to hear from the guy about the parts but will let you know if he has them intact and unbroken.
