Hi,

Recently purchased a used aurion with factory sat nav.... hadn't really used the sat nav until a week or so ago and noticed that there was no voice guidance. I just have to keep looking and follow the blue line! Just thought it was me not knowing how to use the system but after reading he manual over and over and trying everything I can think of I just can't get (hear) any voice guidance - really seems like a fault to me??. When I enter a destination the woman at the beginning says "Please proceed to the highlighted route etc" then thats all I hear until I reach the destination, then it just says "You have reached your destination etc".

According to the manual you can also hit the map button to repeat the last instruction but nothing... has anyone had this problem or heard of this before? is it just me not knowing how to use it? I haven't been back to the dealer as yet because I wasn't to fussed and I'm just waiting till the next service then I'll get a technician to look at it.

Cheers,

Dan.

I should also mention that I have made sure that guidance is turned on in the settings and also that the volume is turned up. Have also tried turning guidance off then back on again but nada.

Hi There

I've got the genuine Toyota satnav in my Prado, and a couple of years ago remember reading about this on some of the U.S. forums. Just trying to find this now reveals the most common problem for this is that the Navigation system must have the speed sensor wire connected so it can compute things as it is going along. Without this connection, the symptoms are exactly as you say.

From a U.S. site which resells genuine toyota navs :

Toyota OEM Audio, Video

Question: I just installed the Navigation system and there is NO voice during my route. The woman's voice ONLY speaks when I start the guidance and when I reach my destination, what's wrong?

Answer: Your speed sensor wire is not connected correctly. Please recheck your tap and visit the diagnostic menu to compare the speed on the navigation screen to your speedometer. The information on how to acquire the diagnostics menu is back on the main installation help page.

See Nav Install for details on the speed sensor. It is part of the R12 plug on the back of the stereo.

What model is your car? Perhaps it had the navigation system fitted later and this has never worked, or maybe is simply playing up. Anyway, Toyota should be able to fix for you if don't feel like looking for yourself.

Hope this is of some use.

Hi Michael,

Thanks heaps for this information! Much appreciated. Good to know I am not going crazy.

I have an Aurion but wouldn't know what I'm looking for under the dash (and better not to start playing under there) so I'm just going to leave it for the dealer to fix at my next service. No doubt this information will help greatly though.

Regards,

Daniel.
