Anyone got photos of where and how they mounted a holder for their mobile in a kluger? Mine's a KXR so no bluetooth, needs to be nearish the 12v for charger and aux plug for music/handsfree. I tried jamming a suction cap mount thing into the forward drink holder but it doesnt stick down, otherwise a pretty good spot.

I have it mounted just to the right of the radio between the hazard switch and a/c vent on the drivers side. The mount is screwed into the plastic panel there. The top of the phone does obstruct the a/c vent slightly. My mount is hardwired, but the location does allow for easy access to the sockets.

Was looking for something like this a while ago when I had a Commodore. They are a clink in dash mount system. Below is a link to something similar:

click style dash mount

You insert the mount into the gaps between the fascia??

Will be a little way away from your 12v though.....

Here's another one...

Great tips, thanks guys. She Who Must Be Obeyed isn't happy with the idea of me drilling holes in "her" new kluger... We live in Townsville so can't block the air vents, it's a mattter of life and death! That's the spot for it though Kesawi, if only the suction cup one I bought would stick to the dash there...

KXRuising, the ebay had finished so I couldn't see it, assuming it's like the pro clip ones that clip into the air vent?

The ClicOn stuff is good - have used them in all my vehicles over the last couple of years. Haven't needed one for our Kluger as it has factory BT.

There are two types, the centre mount (over the airvent), and one that mounts to the A-pillar (which i think is then best, but it's too far from your 12v source)

I had a look at the A-pillar mount, however was advised by my local Toyota Service Centre that it would become a hazard when the driver's side curtain air bag deploys.

While the top of my phone protrudes about 30-50% across the a/c vent it doesn't impact the effectiveness of the A/C, which still seems to work well even during some of the hotter days we've had this year in Brisbane. I find that I usually end up directing the vent away from myself after about the first 5 minutes anyway. As for drilling holes, it's the most secure way to mount a phone and can be patched up reasonably well later by someone who knows what they're doing.

Another option is to mount it off the passenger side of the transmission using an adjustable mount. I had this style of mount in a Subaru Forestor and it wasn't really a problem for the passenger unless they had long legs. Only issue was it made the screen harder to see. I've put the link to the Clic-On one but you should be able to pick up something similar from any mobile phone specialist shop that does car kits.

Final option I can think of is a goose neck windscreen mount. The link is just an example of what I'm referring to. There are plenty of types available.

Try http://www.holdmyphone.com.au/

I know the local car kit/stereo installer uses these products.
