Hey Guys,

I got a problem with my kenwood amp (friend gave to me for free before selling his car) in my 2000 Echo (or VITZ).

The amp seems to be a very old one, don't know the specs but when i turn on the ignition, the amp won't get any power.

Some days I would be lucky enough to drive 5 kms before the amp dies on me.

The fuse is fine, wiring is correct.

Could it just be the amp can't handle my 12" Infinity Sub ? and its time for me to get a new one ?

Any suggestions would help : )

Cheers.

Had similar problems before.

Make sure you

1. check that there is a decent ground (12v test lamp),

2.that the remote wire is working(12volt test lamp).

If and when the amp cuts out quickly jump out of your car and see if the amps really hot, it might be overheating.

If all else fails it could possibly be the rca leads as ive had this problem before, the amp would work for ages and then for no apparent reason cut out, to give it a test just plug in an ipod for example with rca-headphone jack straight into the amp and see if it cuts out while your driving.
