Diesel

Trying to put together a quick reference thread with years of manufacture for various diesels and what vehicles they were installed in. Might make it easier for people trying to get hold of parts etc.

My knowledge is a bit limited so I'll have to search it out.

I have a very basic list of early diesels and haven't sorted the production times out properly.

The earliest motors I know of are L, 2L. Does anyone know of any earlier? Any sources appreciated, thanks.

Day 1.

Haven't seen another living soul. It's so quiet that it roars in your head. gathering material for the signal fire and trying to build a shelter. Food supplies are ok for now but if I don't find anything, I'll have to eat the seatcovers in the ute. Hope I can find an old tomato sauce packet.

Day 2

Thought I saw a plane fly overhead but it turned out to be a vulture. The EPIRB has stopped working. I'm going to try and catch some small lizards to eat. Must find some drinking water.

Day 3

Still no sign of human life. The sun is beating down so I crawled under the ute tray for shelter.

Found some termites to eat and cracked open the nest with the wheelbrace. They taste bad.

battery in MP3 player is starting to give out.

Day 4

A rat came into camp and bit me on the foot while I was asleep.

There must be water nearby to sustain the local animal population.

I need to find it as the stuff in the windscreen washer bottle tastes like detergent.

I'll set a trap for the rat and see if I can bite him back. might be able to cook him on the tailgate.

Day 5

Saw a jetsteam from a plane way overhead. Water supplies are giving out.

Can't trust my own judgement anymore and cannot befriend a coconut as Tom Hanks did in the movie castaway, as there are none here. Might speak to that cactus over there and find out what it's story is.

Day 6

Last night ants tried to carry me away while I slept.

Looks like rain is coming, I'll try to catch some water.

Laid out some rocks in an "SOS", but I think I may have mis-spelled it.

Day 7

Heard a noise off in the distance, sounded like an engine.

An Echidna ate the last of the termites so I'm setting traps for food, however

theres a 7-11 next door so I might just go buy something.

Day 8

finally dug the latrine, hope it's far enough from the ute.

ate some cockroaches I found in the tray, they weren't too bad.

Still haven't seen any humans.

Day 9

vultures are circling overhead.

duct-taped a frog to my shoulder to keep the flies out of my face

hope someone turns up soon.
