Hi Guys,

I managed to be fortunate enough (I hope), to obtain a very cheap HID conversion kit for my Presara. I only wanted the Single High Beam Kit and a mate, of a mate, of a mate, had a kit he purchased, but never got round to instal.

I just happened to be in the right place at the right time and mentioned I was buying a new kit. Anyway I got this kit at a bargain price and it's a 9005 4300k 35 watt outfit, which suits me fine. It's all still in the original box, which he has had apart several times, but the problem is, he has lost the installation instructions.

Now as I have posted before, when it comes to automotive electronics, I'm better off baking a cake, so I was wondering, if any of you have any old instructions lying around and could scan to a word document for me, or know where I can download or view online, some instructions, to fit this kit.

Also in the kit there are two igniters built into the wiring harness, which I haven't observed on some of the online kits, and a rubber grommet with additional wires, which I may not need, is this normal? The kit is a Xenon Super Vision HID !!!!!!

Thanks guys..........Dixie.

Mate, if you have a Presara; you already have HID Xenon Low Beam Lights.

If, like I read you are wanting to change the High Beams why bother!

Unless because of your location you do alot of country driving.

My previous VW Passat had Bi-Xenon Headlights with AFS. This did both high and low beams.

Not sure if the Presara is Bi-Xenon.

P.S. There is a reason this HID kits are so cheap!!!

Usually the information that is supplied with generic HID kits is pretty basic. They don't usually explain much. I'm not really good at explaining things, and to me, fitting HID's is pretty straightforward, so I did some searching. About the best I could find, which would be more useful than the manuals you get with such HID kits would be the following. Just adapt it to suit your car:

The kit is a Xenon Super Vision HID !!!!!!

A common name for bulk Asian made HID kits. I have had a couple in the past... with different packaging and the same name.

He will be doing his High Beams since that's the lamp base the high beams use.

As for the relevance of doing it, each to their own.

Yeah.... must be the reason why I've had many cheap kits last 3 years + . Just because it is cheap, doesn't give reason to say they are crap.

I've had Bi-Bi-Xenon in our Echo now for almost 2 years.

Makes great light, as the same bulb is used for Hi and Low beam, the intensity remains the same, but the position of the bulb within the headlight moves to adjust focal points, giving the hi and low beam.

After being followed by a car similar to ours where HID lamps have been fitted, they are VERY bright and light scatter is a problem, no mater where you adjust them, but the quality of the light is great. Picks up the reflective pieces on the States Police vehicles / clothing with plenty of warning :spiteful:

I'd like to to add HID to the Aurion (low beam only), I just hate messin with new cars  , maybe later though.

As for the reliability, I had a minor issue with one of the connectors not making contact occasionally with the HV igniter and when cold one light not firing up straight away, but with a bit of jiggling around, never had the problem again. With almost 800 hours of use so far, the bulb glass is starting to get a slight brownish tinge to it, but they seem to be as good as the day I put them in.

There is a hell of alot of differing brand names out there, all ex china obviously, but they seem to be coming out of one or two different manufacturing plants as they all seem to look the same !

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies. I fitted the HID's this afternoon and it only took me about an hour and a half. Quite a bit of mucking around, with the Presara and had to drill a couple of holes in the rear headlight covers, to accommodate the grommets and wiring. Not a lot of room to work, without removing bumper bar and headlights, but persistance payed off and after fitting a couple of 20 amp fuses, the lights are now working.

However.........,I have noticed that the xenon globes, don't appear to pertrude into the reflector lens all that far and they are off set a little, towards the smaller side of the reflector !!

Also, do I now have to re align the high beam, as the light now appears to be shining up in the air!! The light is definately brighter, but it doesn't seem to focus dead ahead, but lights the whole area up!!

Regards................Dixie.
