Hi,

Anyone here installed an aftermarket bonnet?

I saw an australian importer selling a carbon fibre bonnet (www.takashi.com.au).

I'm afraid of fitment issue, but the guy assured me that it will fit without any modification. I have seen some picture and they look reasonably well finished.

Thoughts? Anybody?

By the way, they have hood damper for the Yaris too.

Cheers

I dont think anyone has an aftermarket bonnet here for the yaris. The only benefits for the bonnets are for looks, since the yaris bonnet doesn't weigh much and also CF is illegal on the roads.

Guess you have to take the risk of getting one. Usually you don't have to modify aftermarket bonnets.

What did he quote you on for the bonnet anyway?

The Yaris hood weighs close to nothing. So in this case it's most definitely for looks than weight-saving.

With that being said, I haven't seen/heard of any Yaris in Australia with a CF Hood. Goodluck with it!

Make sure you post pics once you have 'em on.. :)

Just an idea, if you're not looking for weight-saving (which in this case is close to nothing), then may I suggest doing a carbon fibre vinyl wrap on your stock bonnet? That way you get the look without the expensive price tag of a CF hood.

Yeah great idea Kenneth.

Will save much more money with that. If you get busted by cops you can just peel it off.

I've been quoted 250 to get my roof done matt/gloss black.

250 is a bit pricey, you could easily get Di-Noc Carbon for less than that, and its easy as to apply yourself.

BTW, thanks for the Takashi link, great fast delivery of my hood dampers! Overnight delivery!

Ni-Doc is a seriously forgiving medium, its soo easy to work with. Dont be scared! Any print shop or sign writer would apply it in 10 min for you.

Great...I was asked on another forum to post picture of the hood dampers(http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30074).

But I'm not sure how to upload picture. Any chance you can post some pictures here ?

Those carbon-look vinyl looks great on the video..thanks for the heads up.

Cheers

Havent installed them yet, due to the crazy rains and wind we have had here...

Ill take some shots when they are installed. The instructions specifically say not for aftermarket hoods, ie fiberglass or carbon. I think because they must be quite strongly pressured as the apparently lift the bonnet by themselves once the latch is popped.
