Hey Ladies and Gentlemen,

Some of you who know me would already know this car but i don't think i have posted a members ride topic on TOCA before and over the last couple of weeks there has been some changes to the old rolla.

Here's a little back story, I've owned the car for 10 years now. It was my first car and i just can't bare to let her go. I've done a lot of club racing in it and she's done two 6hour relay races at Winton where on the first one i scored 2nd place out of 204 drivers for consistency thats how well the corolla performed. Lap after lap she did consistent 1:54's for 1 hour straight. pleas note this was achieved using a stock S/T 20v, street tyre's (Bridgestone GIII's) and i was only running Pedders comfort gas shocks (soft), superlow king springs, stock sway bars, standard brakes, standard interior.

Currently as the car sits the specs are,

1986 series 1 AE82 Twincam (big sticker)

Engine/gearbox

-Silvertop 20v (which is it's 4th motor)

-Blacktop ECU

-20v gearbox

-excedy HD clutch

- custom Lightweight steel flywheel

-Drift oil catch can

Wheels/suspension

-Lenso C5's

-Bridgestone ADRENALIN (195/55R15)

-Bazda coilovers

Interior

-Momo Steering wheel

-Momo gear knob

-OMP reclinable race seats on escort rails and custom mounting brackets

Here's where the story gets sad,

Monday 22nd of August 2010 at 5:45pm as i drove through the round-a-bout outside of work i saw a little bit of red out of the corner or my and said "oh ****' then BAM! i got T-boned. The impact spun me around 180' and i ended up going backwards down the street i was planing on going forwards down.

I got 2 quotes done and they both said it's written off :'( So the plan now is once i've had it assessed by Just Cars and go through all that BS the old rola will end up sitting in the shed for the next 12 - 18 months or until i've finished the extension on the new house and then i'll begin to rebuild her bigger and better then ever :D

So for now i'm cruising around in a 1990 SV21 camry executive. it's only done 133k, auto, brown interior, sheepskin seat covers pretty much full Grandpa spec!

  • 2 weeks later...

BKS - Dude i'd love to come along but i'm pretty sure i'll be flat out at the new house getting everything ready so better give it a miss. Cheers heaps for the offer tho :)

ELEGNT - Cheers, yeah she sounds pretty nice but i want to make the exhaust a little quieter so i can hear the induction more :D

1stKill - yeah shattered seeing her sitting there in that state but time will fly and she'll be back on the road in no time! The only 'mods' that will be happening to the Camry will be a tissue box sporting a nice knitted cosy and a bowls hat for added charm on the rear parcel shelf B)

Just thought i would give an update, I had the assessor come out and look at the car the other day and he took a couple of photo's asked a couple of questions one being would i like to keep the car and the obvious answer was 'YES"! ;) He then told me that he'll find out how much the car would be worth and how much salvage would cost and call me back. So i waited......

The verdict - Just Cars told me the car was worth $1900 + $200 for the wheels =$2100. He the said the salvage would be between $200 - $300 but seeing that i want to keep the car he dropped that down to $100. Which means for me, I'll be getting a cheque for $2000 and i get to keep the car!

Probably the best result i could have asked for in this situation :) Now just to find someone to fix it

So all in all the little OSODVS will live again :D

Cheers

Ben
