Hi guys

My friend told me the Mobil1 fully synthentic is the best. But which grade I should use to my sx6.(5w-30 or 10w-30)

Also I was told after I change the oil from semi to fully, I need to top the oil up before the next service. Is that true?

thanks

I guess you never used search function before. Look at The TOCAU Aurion FAQ as it gives you all the answers you want.

As to answer your question. There is no such thing as the best oil. It varies from person to person. I use Cooking oil because i find that the best with the aurion.

But what kind of cooking oil?

Canola? Peanut? Sesame? Vegetable? Original? Grapeseed? Olive? Halal? Kosher?

In answer to OP, 5-30w or 10-30w will work with the Aurion fine. It is not an Aurion but i use Mobil 1.

Thanx for the suggestion about using cooking oil guys. Actually, I searched and read the previous thread. But I did not find 10w-30 in Mobil 1 official website and there are two types of mobil1 5w-30; one is just 5w-30,the other one is esp 5w-30. what's the difference.

Castrol Edge 5W30 is $40 for 5L when on sale. It's much cheaper than Mobil and does the same thing

But Edge is not a true synthetic oil as it is derived from mineral oil! :P It's a Group III oil while Mobil 1 is a Group IV oil...

that being said I couldn't tell you what makes the Group IV better than Group III

....... one is just 5w-30,the other one is esp 5w-30. what's the difference.

For my Aurion I just use whatever my Toyota dealer recommends when they are servicing it, and whilst I'm not familiar with the Mobil 1 5W-30 (i.e. non ESP version), I can tell you what I know about the Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30 because that is the oil which my VW dealer uses to service my turbo diesel VW Golf.

The datasheet for the Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30 has specific approval listed from a number of european manufacturers such as BMW, MB, VW, etc. In fact, in the case of current VW vehicles, the engine warranty is voided if oil is used which does not carry a VW 504.000 approval (for petrol engines) or VW 507.000 approval (for diesel engines). Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30 carries both VW 504.000 & 507.000 approval. Mobil 1 5W-30 does not. I believe that in europe it is common to have long service intervals like 2yrs/30,000km but this requires oils approved for the longer life. Also, in the case of diesel VW Golf's, some of these have diesel particulate filters (DPF) to meet euro 4 & 5 emissions standards and these require low ash oils to reduce particulate build up on the DPF. Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30 is low ash. Mobil 1 5W-30 is not.

Hope that helps

Thanks guys. I just bought the Castrol Edge 5W30 today as around $54 for 5L. That's the highest price I can afford, hopefully it will work good in my sx6

If you are changing your oil filter as well(which you should be doing), that 5 litres of oil will not be enough. WITH oil filter change the Aurion takes 6.1 litres of oil.

Well we don't really get much of a choice but either Ryco or go to your dealer and pick up an oil filter. They are not that expensive anyway so I would go Toyota Genuine always on my filters, and you feel good that you are using original parts B)

If you *must* use an aftermarket filter here is the links to the Ryco filters:
