Hi all new member so I appologise if this has been discussed before,

A friend has just bought a low km 91 ls400 ( soarer ) with a 1uz, it was hit in the front left bad enough to deploy the airbag however the engine appears untouched, this car is never going back on the road but the engine will be going in a RA23 Celica. before he does all the hard work we want to fire the engine just to confirm it is as good as hoped. it turns but wont fire Im guessing due to the Airbag deployment.

Is there a way to start this thing.

One quick thing, and it may help others, but the LS400 is a Celsior, the V8 Soarer is a SC400 (if you're using Lexus terminology). Fairly different cars, even if the engine is the same.

It's a bit of a wild guess, but this is what I would do to attempt to start it.

Disconnect the battery and pump the brakes a few times to remove any residual charge in the system. This should clear the main ECU. Then after that, disconnect the Airbag ECU completely. Give it about 10 minutes (just to be sure) then connect the battery up again, with the Airbag ECU still disconnected. Then try to start the engine. Hopefully the main ECU would have cleared any previous codes then it will just treat the disconnected Airbag ECU as another different error all together, but still let you start the engine.

That's what I would try anyways.
