Turns out the alternator might have **** it's self as the battery light wont turn off even though I have put a brand new battery in it, I have only had the car 1 month. Does any one know how much a new alternator is or would a second hand option be alright? I'm on the south side of Brisbane if that helps any info would be appreciated.

cheers.

Before saying the alternator is stuffed, I would be having a look to see if the carbon brushes are worn. If they are, it can be a really cheap fix.

I have just had a test with a century tester:

Battery test results-

marginal

Alternator results:

Suspect

charge volts: 11.62

charge Amps: 0.00

Ripple Volts: 10.8mV

Amps Drain

Pass

I think that means the Alternator is stuffed , I heard I could use the Alter out of a camry?? as they are the same 2.2lt??

I got a Denso alternator from 'Redlands Auto Electrical' on 3286 2272; they are at Cleveland.

I tried to rebuild mine and of the 8 diodes, 2 had burnt out. The bearings were stuffed, but the brushes were still good (there is so much meat for them they'd last 100 years). With all that wrong I just got a new one. Can't remember what I paid exactly, but I remember that mob was the cheapest, and could get it the fastest for me. Don't waste your time on Toyota, they want like $600 (and it's a Denso anyway).

You'll have to take the alternator off to get the part number for them.

Get me the genuine part numbers off the alternator and I will most likely find you one on monday.

The Toyota number will be 27060-***** Denso number should be 101211-****

Also would help if you had the vehicle year, month and engine model.

PM me your e-mail address if you want my mobile number.
