G'Day,

I have the chance to aquire a 1999 Prado, 3.4L V6 automatic from a family member.

It's clocked up a few miles, but nothing excessive, something between 300, 000-400, 000.

It has spent some of its life towing a caravan.

There are no curent problems and all seems to be working well.

He is the second owner and the car is in very good condition inside and out.

He may be considering a newer prado and will obviously be shocked at the low trade in value.

I have mentioned to him that I am interested.

This will be my first 4WD, but I know Toyota is a good place to start.

I was just wondering if I should have virtually trouble free first few years.

I understand that things may go wrong since there are no definite gauntees on a 12 year old car,

I would just like to know if there are any universal problems with this particular model after so long.

I have always liked the prado and this seemed like a golden oppurtunity to snap one up.

He is willing to accept $6, 000, however my funds will be low after that, so I can't afford too many costly hic-ups. Recommendations?

Thanks.

Have you had a look at the Pradopoint forum? There is probably a lot more info and 90 series owners who could answer that question for you.
