There's a Corolla that I'm interested in buying but the seller said he does not have the log books as he lost it

This is often a common thing with cars.

If the seller appears honest about it (use your judgement) then it could be legitimately lost,

If not, it could be hiding an engine with major work done to it. Heck it may only run for another 10,000k and conk out.

Honestly if you can have a decent mechanic, possibly a friend look over it before you buy then there is no reason why you shouldn't.

A big thing to look at is REVS. Get a REVS check on the vehicle and it will tell you if its been in any accident before.

I think if you do those two things then you should be pretty well right to purchase the car, assuming everything checks out okay.

i lost my toyota log books when i was moving houses, what i do instead now is keep all my service receipts and anything i do to the car.

make sure all the numbers of the engine match have a look underneath the carmake sure nohing stands out or looks like it had been repaied or changed. Is there person who owns the car the 1st owner? just few things i would consider if they had no log books good luck hopw it all thurns out i got my car with a logsbooks but didnt really have much in them but i did findout that my car was orignally from W.A
