G,day guys,ive got a 2003 hilux 4wd with the 3l turbo diesel,and its got an oil leak.Seems to be coming from around the top of the gearbox,near the breather and blowing down the transfer case then pooling on the ground.

Ive taken both gearbox and transfer case filler plugs out to make sure its not over full,but it hasent stopped it!has anyone else experienced these problems

cheers Glenn

AN OLD INDIAN TRICK,

Hi DUVEL,have you heard of the phrase (roll her in flour and look for the wet spot),well apply the same principle. Give your motor,gearbox and transfer case a good degrease,pay particular attention to around the back of the head inc; the bell housing hose it off making sure all grease & sh*t is removed then when it is all nice and DRY,use a cheap ar*e bottle of baby talcum powder sprinkle it all over where you think the oil leak may-be originating from, start the beast up and in no time you will have found where it is coming from.As soon as you see a tell tale sign of oil shut it down and find the reason why. If its the rear seal on your crank,you might be able to remove the starter motor and shine a torch inside the bell housing for signs of oil being thrown around by the flywheel,anyway hopefully it wont come to that.It might just be a weeping rocker cover gasket at the rear and it is running down the back of the block.Ive seen some cars covered in oil underneath from gearbox to diff from a simple leaking rocker cover gasket being tightened up that tight it squashed the sh*t out of it and distorted the moment it got hot,they only need nippin,up

Just watch the missus dont catch ya nickin the kids bath powder,

and dissappearing to the garage:::::::::::::
