Hope someone can help me here.

I've got a RAV4 Cruiser on order and due later this month. I want to put a reversing camera on, but just can't bring myself to spend the outrageous money that Toyota wants for a genuine unit.

So a couple of questions.

1/. Does the Display audio unit have an RCA input for a reversing camera so it can just be plugged straight into the rear of the unit

2/. What is the video system on the Toyota unit - PAL or NTSC - or auto switching, so I can order one from HK

3/. The guide lines are camera specific ?? - as in depends on the camera

4/. Don't suppose someone can measure the cutout in the licence plate light for me, to make sure I get the right size, as they all reckon the unit just clicks into the space where one of the lights were.

Thanks in anticipation.

Which head unit are you getting?

No. 1 - If the screen can display video format then probable it will have the video input for reverse camera.

No. 2 - I will say no.

Best thing to do is ask your Toyota dealer to confirm that.

Thanks For that. I'm sure the Cruiser has the display unit (#1)

Don't suppose you know if the input needs to be PAL or NTSC ?

Cheers

If you are going to get the reverse camera from ebay, get those that support PAL & NTSC.

Australia is using PAL broadcast system for TV, my bet will be the same for video display unit.

Once you get your car, you can check your manual to confirm that.

I recently bought a headunit with TV tuner from ebay that can support PAL & NTSC.

The HU will automatically switch between PAL & NTSC depends on broadcasting signal.

I hope your HU does the same.

Thanks TC for your time.

Guess I'll have to wait until I get the car and then check out the system on the head unit. I'm just glad I'm getting the car by the end of July.
