Hi Everyone,

I have 1989 Hi ace lwb petrol van, recently had trouble with charging light staying on found alternator was stuffed,I fitted new exchange one, light still on but glowing brighter when motor revved, local garage had a look today, they say overcharging 16.1 on meter. not too drive as my blow accessories or battery

Can anyone help with advice don't really want to have to pay auto electrician to come out. on a disb pension. where is the regulator located can i find a free wiring diagram on here?.

This is a common problem. The original alternator was designed to have a regulator which in some cases performs a certain function.

Often people will see an alternator that looks the same as their original unit and fits the same but the reg is programed differently.

If you still have the original one it will be necessary to match the O/E part numbers to get the right unit to suit the vehicle.

Cheers
