Low brake fluid

Recommended Posts

my brake fluid was last changed at my 60K service with Toyota. I'm now on 76K and I had a look at the brake fluid reservoir and it's sitting between low and max. I read on the manual that this is normal but is it normal for it to happen so soon? Should I go buy some brake fluid from Toyota parts and top it up? On hot or cold it still sits in the middle.

As your brake pads wear down, your brake fluid level will go down. So long as you are above the low line, then you don't really need to top it up. You can if you want to though, but it just means that if you change your pads without doing a fluid change at the same time, you need to remove some fluid from the reservoir when you push the pistons back in.
