corolla models

can somebody please explain to me what is the difference between corolla 120 series models 120 - 121 & 122 ( are they all relevant numbers ? ).

i know that a 123 is a sportivo but i am a bit confused over the vin #s ,

there appears to be a 6 speed manual with a vin # AHT

and a 5 speed manual turbo charged version vin JT7 - are they both zze 123 ?

also , i believe that all sportivo are made in south africa , does that apply to both vin #s above and what if any other version is made in south africa ?

I am looking to buy a corolla for my granddaughter and like the look of this model and would like to know more about it

thank you

Hey, welcome to the club,

The 6 speed manual is the ZZE123R with VIN AHT = South African

This is the Toyota Corolla Sportivo (2003-2005)

I believe the 5 speed manual turbo is AE112R with VIN JT7 = Australian developed but I believe it was built in Japan. (don't quote me on it though) Also only about 100'ish were made so not very many around.

Most, if not all corolla's to come to Australia were and are Japanese built. However, I think in recent years they are made in Thailand for the Aussie market. (but again not 100% sure)

A VIN starting with JT means built in Japan, MR is Thailand and Australia is 6T.

The current Corolla ZRE150 series is all Japan built. Nothing from Thailand ... yet
